Custom Holiday Delete Option

Has anyone tried to delete their Custom Holiday setting for this storm but put in more than 1 day as the holiday? Our post office is open and I will be able to ship so I tried to cancel my holiday but wasn’t able because it was for today so it isn’t a 24 hour advance notice. I am wondering what would have happened if I set the holiday to 3 or 4 days. Would I be prevented from changing it once my custom holiday starts? Seller Support says I would be able to cancel the holiday for days past the the original start date but would like to hear from someone who has actually done this.

We had set one up for January 5, 2026 because our daughter was coming for a visit from January 2, 2026 to January 5, 2026. We didn’t need January 2, 2026 as a holiday as we would be shipping before she arrived. January 3 and January 4 were weekend days and we are set as closed on the weekends. We have 2 day handle time so the day of sales we were protecting was December 31, 2025 as those would ship on January 5, 2026 because of the holiday January 1, 2026 and the way the following days fell across the weekend.

For whatever reason, this year December 31, 2025 was a bust … zero sales. We had set up the custom holiday for January 5, 2026 on Monday December 29, 2025 (a week ahead). On January 1, 2026 when we knew we had no orders for December 31, 2026, we went in and cancelled (the function is actually to delete it) the custom holiday we had set for Monday January 5, 2026. We had read that a seller was limited to 30 days of custom holidays and want to save it if we could for later. It did allow us to delete it but remember that we had no orders that were already tied to the custom holiday and we were cancelling (deleting) it 4 days before.

When setting up a custom holiday, it does need to be 24 hours before so we believe to remove one it should be also be 24 hours before. What we can not tell you is, if you already have an order tied to that custom holiday (or effected by it), whether or not you can still cancel (delete) it.

Good reminder you can only do 30 days a year. Most businesses wouldn’t need it but the Northeast may be getting another storm next weekend so you never know when you need to set a custom holiday. I am glad I didn’t conservatively put in a 4-5 day holiday as I am not convinced I would be able to cancel the back end of the holiday.

We set up a holiday for this storm (and still got 2 orders with a ship by date after our ‘holiday’). Our roads are cleared enough that I wanted to edit the holiday. Problem is – the holiday widget doesn’t exist. In a “support” chat right now to find out where it went.

(not holding my breath for a helpful resolution)

It’s there …

Go to Shipping Settings
Go to General Shipping Settings tab
Scroll down to Holidays
Click Edit on the Holidays
Upper right you will see button to Add Custom Holiday

On our custom holiday there is a Delete to the right of it. If the delete is greyed out, then it is past the time to change it.

In the future … if you are unsure of the time needed, you may want to break a custom holiday of 4 days into 2 custom holidays of 2 days which should allow you to delete the second custom holiday of 2 days as long as you delete it 24 hours in advance.

This is what I would do for the next big storm with the potential for lots of ice. Until I can confirm you can cancel the tail end of a holiday you set on a multi-day I will break it up into smaller holidays.

Was in a chat with seller “support” for about 20 minutes. Finally understood my question and provided the appropriate link (which is what I used). It was fixed. Claimed he didn’t do anything on the back end.

And I made the holiday through the end of the week..can’t delete it now. At least we’re not a big FBM shop here.

Thanks for this info. We are FBM and our products are time sensitive so I will avoid setting long holidays.

Sorry to resurrect a necro thread, or would it be a Zombie thread?

I can not believe I just found the option to do a “Custom Holiday” this will be, and could have been so useful since it was rolled out.

For this instance, my significant other, once my partner in the company was head hunted out 4-5 years ago from our company.

Looking to find out what day we get off from Amazon next weekend, Friday or Monday… I found out no only Saturday is off. Happy 250th birthday Amazon!

Found the instructions here, Define Seller Set Holidays in case we have any other VIP’s here on the SAS (Very Ignorant People) that missed it like me.

So I set Friday as a Custom Holiday, and can do the three day deep sea fishing event with her out at the coast!

Priceless.

ETA this makes the day after Thanksgiving, so much simpler for us too. Not going to abuse it, I fear as some in the thread here said, “Don’t want to abuse it, don’t want to lose it.”

With 2 day handle time …

Wife had a medical procedure done on a Wednesday. We could drop off out going orders before the procedure Wednesday morning. We could not process Tuesday’s orders on Wednesday to go out on Thursday. So we set up a Custom Holiday on Thursday to push Thursday out going shipments to ship on Friday.

Some might have thought Wednesday was the day to set up the Custom Holiday, but is was not … it was Thursday.

We have used Custom Holidays 4 times this year already and greatly appreciate them.

Neither are we … it is to valuable to have to abuse or waste them.

Since we work every day except three holidays I can never see us using 30, or would we want to. When you love what you do it is not work.

We do regional installations, as in New England, Eastern New York and Northern New Jersey. Often it is like playing Russian Roulette when we go on a mission. This allows us to not have to worry about shipping that day.

Again Priceless.
