Just posted this in a PM and remembered we have this thread!

I didn’t watch all of the 13th Doctor before jumping back in with the 14th Doctor (the 10th Doctor back!) and Donna, and now 2 seasons with the 15th Doctor. As you might (not?) know, Russell Davies, the showrunner who resurrected the series for Doctors 9 and 10, has returned as of 14–so my experience is that you can mostly just jump right back on in for the three specials with the 14th Doctor and Donna and then roll on with the 15th Doctor.

I friggin’ love Ruby Sunday as a companion and recurring character; she’s as smart as Clara, but also big hearted like Rose and juuust sassy enough like Donna. Belinda is a bit meh as a character/storyline IMO but the actress is excellent.

Ncuti Gatwa has been great as the Doctor, continuing to be curious and delighted but also a bit dark a la Christopher Eccleston and sometimes David Tennant, and I do not hate it. We also see one of the creepier evils resurrected, too; we actually stopped watching a brand new episode midway through to rewatch Midnight, one of the best and scariest revival episodes.

The Season 2 finale just aired, and I didn’t “get” all of the details from not having watched the Timeless Child storyline for the 13th Doctor, but I understood well enough and didn’t really miss the backstory. I have A LOT of questions but generally enjoyed it and am looking forward to…whatever (whoever?) is coming next.
