Ebay Scams

Now that I’m dabbling on Ebay, I’d like to know of any scams or things I should know about that they don’t tell us about there. Hoping some senior sellers can chime in.

99% of the Amazon rules apply

My #1 is Only ship to the address on the order that ebay provides. Never fall for the “I forgot to update my address!” message.

But again, that’s also on Amazon

I agree with @Pepper_Thine_Angus if you take the same precautions as you do on Amazon, your losses will be similar to your losses on Amazon.

You might get away in some cases with shipping to a different address on Ebay but are likely to lose a chargeback dispute.

You should be aware that if a buyer opens an Item Not As Described request for return, and you do not issue a prepaid shipping label, if the buyer asks ebay to step in, you will lose the item, and a refund will be issued to the buyer, and you will not be credited for any Ebay fees. Sellers always lose Not As Described disputes.

So far, after over 20 years there, it is about the only site where I will actually combine items to ship if the buyer did multiple orders instead of adding to their shopping cart.

After my first (expensive) bad experience on Amazon I will never combine there. No problems to date doing it on eBay.
