Hello,
On September 30, 2025, we’ll update the enrollment process for the US and Canada Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Liquidations and Donations programs.
The FBA Liquidations program, which allows you to potentially receive recovery for eligible inventory, will become the default option for your unsold inventory. If you haven’t configured your automated fulfillable settings and automated unfulfillable settings, you’ll automatically be enrolled in the Liquidations program. You can still opt out of the Liquidations program at any time.
The FBA Donations program, which allows your eligible products to be donated instead of recycled, will become mandatory. As of September 30, 2025, you won’t be able to opt out. If you’ve previously opted out, you will be re-enrolled.
There are no changes to the fees for either program.
These programs support our commitment to sustainability by extending product lifecycles and reducing waste. Through liquidation, products find new users through secondary markets, while donations ensure that useful items reach charitable organizations instead of being discarded.
While no action from you is required, we recommend that you review these changes and adjust your inventory management strategy, including your FBA settings, before September 30, 2025.

Was that an Amazon email? When did you receive it?
I didn’t get that email, and couldn’t find anything on Seller central about it either.
Just want to locate the offical AMazon notice. Anybody can point me to it?
Yes, an Amazon email. I got it today.
OK. Just received this email.
I got it today also.
As I read it though it only pertains to your settings for “unsold” inventory
My settings currently:
This image is displayed on the left to help explain things more …
If I understand the email correctly, you should still be able to have your product returned to you. The donations is only if you don’t want it back, Amazon is saying they will donate it instead of throwing it away, and you can’t tell them not to.
I could be wrong.
That’s how I read it.
I was about to do an edit to my post to spell that out better, but no need now.
So, instead of Amazon throwing stuff away, they are gong to give it to non-profits who will be shouldered with the cost of disposing of the unsellable inventory. Yup, a win. win.
OR selling it on Amazon (or other sites in direct competition).
I find a lot of ex-Amazon stock at my local Habitat Restore. Not sure precisely how it gets there, but someone’s getting a writeoff.
A lot of them were going to bin stores, but the bin stores quickly went out of business. No more bin stores, so now they have to give it to charity.
Correction: Enrollment changes for FBA Liquidations and Donations programs
Hello,
We want to correct an email that we sent on August 20, 2025, about some upcoming changes to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Liquidations and Donations programs.
The changes described below apply to the US only. The FBA Liquidations and Donations programs are unchanged in Canada. Also, the change to the US FBA Donations program has been delayed until October 30, 2025.
We apologize for the erroneous email and any confusion that it may have caused.
The corrected message is as follows:
On September 30, 2025, the FBA Liquidations program, which allows you to potentially receive recovery for eligible inventory, will become the default option for your unsold inventory in the US. If you haven’t configured your automated fulfillable inventory settings and automated unfulfillable settings, you’ll automatically be enrolled in the Liquidations program. You can still opt out of the Liquidations program at any time.
On October 30, 2025, the FBA Donations program, which allows your eligible products to be donated instead of recycled, will become mandatory in the US if you select Dispose. As of October 30, 2025, you won’t be able to opt out of Donations. If you’ve previously opted out, you will be re-enrolled. You can unselect Dispose and choose other channels, such as Return, Grade and Resell, or Liquidations, at any time.
There are no changes to the fees for either program.
These programs support our commitment to sustainability by extending product lifecycles and reducing waste. Through liquidation, products find new users through secondary markets, while donations ensure useful items reach charitable organizations instead of being discarded.
While no action from you is required, we recommend that you review these changes and adjust your inventory management strategy, including your Fulfillment by Amazon settings, before September 30, 2025.

If Amazon donates your “Dispose” inventory instead of recycling or trashing it, do they claim that as a charitable donation? Maybe not on taxes but in reports? ![]()
Well, if you claim it as a donation and THEY claim it as a donation it will take an army of IRS agents to figure out who got screwed (above and beyond the ‘normal’ situation with Amazon). ![]()
I would have no problem donating it to someplace that will use my stuff, but I don’t want it being sold for money by those nonprofits, because someone is probably going to try to resell it on Amazon and compete with me.
