Even for Amazon, this is a little on the nose...

I just got this email from Amazon Lending

Ask Amazon 3PS to take their survey about Amazon loans and go the Amazon convention get Monopoly the board game…

Monopoly customized for Amazon:

  • Instead of houses and hotels they are fulfillment centers and data centers.
  • Go to Jail is instead Seller Suspended and there is no get out free card.

Other games:

RISK with custom pieces: Infantry (Smile Van), Cavalry (Smile Semi), Artillery (Blue Origin Rocket)

Sorry (just kidding, this won’t be available)

There are no Community Chest cards, only Chance cards for Sellers with things like

  • paid a guru to do some crime to restore my account
  • submitted retail receipts
  • filed a case with Seller Support
  • appealed an A-to-z decision
  • sent item to a different address at Buyer request
  • split a shipment wildcard
  • used the cheap packing tape
  • requested a positive product review
  • tried to correct a category by using the tool

The suspense…

Look closer, my friend.

There ARE Seller Community Chest Cards.

They all state (vaguely), in some of the finest print imaginable, “Payable to Amazon.”

:downcast_face_with_sweat:

… well at least there is a ball and chain token for me to move around

In all seriousness, this could be a successful product (in college, we made a Monopoly clone about our fraternity; my favorite card was “Loan Lenny Money, Lose $200.” The game got played a lot.). Potential names for the game could be “Ecommerce,” “Seller Sanity,” or “Da’ Nile” (plays off of both the Amazon River and the denial sellers experience thinking that things will improve).

Seconded.

On the board’s four most-cardinal points, where the railroads appear in most of the original game’s later iterations, I’d propose using “FBA,” “AGL,” “AWD,” & “GWD.”

To reflect reality, I’d also propose that landing on one of those spots immediately imposes the possibility of suffering an unexpected financial loss, and the added burden of perhaps spending multiple turns `round the board trying to prove that you’re correctly asserting you yourself aren’t to blame, and that Denial is a river in Egypt.
