For FBM sellers: If you have a single SKU you sell that requires multiple packages to be shipped - what do you use for product listing item package dimensions and weight? Do you just go by the largest and heaviest box out of the group?
Sorry for the noob type question - never had this come up before.
Are you talking about when buying shipping or when creating the listing?
If you are talking about buying shipping, I put the largest, heaviest package into Amazon, and buy the other labels elsewhere.
If you are talking about when creating the listing, it only really matters for returns, as Amazon issues return labels based on what the listing says. In this case, I would look at the items and ask myself, “If I was a customer who bought this, threw out all the packaging and then realized I bought the wrong item, what would it look like if I sent this back?” The most likely answer, without knowing what kind of item we are talking about, is that they will try to pack it all in one box. Therefore, I would but the total weight of the product and a rough estimate of the size of box required to ship the whole thing in one package.
That said, Amazon issues only 1 return label for an order, so multi-package returns are always a problem from the start.
