Getting started with Walmart

Don’t get me ■■■■■■■ started… This was a disaster for me…

No! You don’t need to. Just do the work arounds that are working for you.

I tried to host my images with Walmart which worked but the links directly from their host site didn’t work.

Almost drove me to smashing my laptop to itty bitty pieces…

With Walmart, if you find things that work, they will work. I never ran into an issue where we used some creative thinking to get around issues and then faced an issue later. It’s not like Amazon.

If it works, just keep doing it.

That’s my plan, until/unless it lands me in trouble!

I had reservations about the difficulty in using Walmart, until I finally wrapped my head around how it’s done there. I think I’m getting it now, and I actually like it (the listing creation process) better than Amazon. At least parts of it.

Building a listing from scratch seems much, much easier to me. So far, at least.

It’s not just you…

If I don’t need to, tell me how not to? If you upload the file and the image url link cells are empty, it gets rejected. So what’s the workaround?

They let you host them? Do you mean uploading them manually? I simply uploaded all the images during manual listing creation and never had to provide any links to them.

Ooh, I see @TheOrangeCrush is replying. It looks like Walmart people work after midnight.

I just use the image URL’s from one of my other web sites. (Amazon, Shopify, or Bonanza)

Oh, funny. That didn’t even occur to me!

So you create your listings through the template? I didn’t find it that hard, except for the image link issue. But I also didn’t find creating the listings manually to be that hard. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

Creating them manually, they went live immediately. That was pretty cool, although I have to go back in and edit the inventory quantities still.

That didn’t work for me…

The hosted images were very specific for supplements so maybe it’s different for everything else.

I tried using Walmart’s Image hosting site. Also tried Imgur which the incubator recommended. Neither worked.

Walmart has their own Image hosting site.

I totally forget how I got around this BS. I’m too drunk to look.

Requesting Amazon reviews at the moment… lol

Yes

I’ve never created a listing manually on Walmart. I create them manually on Amazon, then use the Amazon image URL’s for the Walmart uploads. If I can’t create the listing on Amazon, I create it on Bonanza or Shopify and copy the image URL’s from there.

How many different products do you have? Approximately? I know you sell a ton, but I sort of assume you sell a whole lot of a relatively small number a few things. If you had limited SKU’s, why not just upload the images manually? Why bother with the hosting process at all? I’m just curious. That may not work for you, I know we seem to do things completely differently.

Amazon - Total - 12 between both accounts.

Walmart - 4

It’s all about quality vs. quantity…

Here’s our a ss hole competitors assortment:

Listing Count 212 %
Avg Rank 140,082
Between 1700 - 5000 2 0.9%
Between 5001 - 10,000 6 2.8%
Between 10,001 -20,000 17 8.0%
Between 20,001 - 40,000 33 15.6%
Between 40,001 - 75,000 39 18.4%
Between 75,001 - 100,000 21 9.9%
100,000 + 94 44.3%

Not gonna be like them. We could but why bother…

When stuff has a shelf life - this :arrow_heading_up: doesnt work…

It was forced upon us. There was no choice for the ingredients listing and the supplement facts panel image. I was given a workaround but I don’t remember what it was. LOL

Need to remember eventually if we are to list additional products.

You need to request credentials to get on here. IMO, there’s no point bc it doesn’t work…

Aren’t those just images? Obviously, I’m no expert here, having all of about 5 minutes experience with Walmart, but it was possible to upload multiple images on my manual listings. Unless your ingredient image has to be placed somewhere specific other than with the other images, you should have been able just to upload it.

I just looked at a vitamin listing over there. The images look just like regular images.

Able to upload standard images manually, these were forced to hosted.

It was annoying but the incubator guy talked me around it. It’s in an email somewhere…

Ah, I see. You’re right. there should be an upload link there. :frowning: Bummer. But how weird it would ask you to provide an image, then not give you a way to upload it.

It’s insane…

And the directions say you can link to another image you used that contains that info.

That doesn’t work.

Don’t think for a second that Walmart is any better than Amazon. It’s worse when it comes to the stupidity.

Example - New Review Accelerator Program. Obviously we wanted to join. Our items are eligible but they weren’t…

Opened a case. We were told Bazaarvoice managed this program and we needed to open a ticket with them.

I did that and Bazaarvoice came back and said while they do manage certain programs for Walmart, they don’t manage this program.

Went back to Walmart with that response and Walmart said to contact Bazaarvoice.

:man_shrugging:

Maybe I take this post back. Got this back today from my Incubator guy. Our engagement period has long since expired but he’s still trying to help. Nothing yet but hopeful this issue will be addressed within the suggested 48 hour timeframe.

Chiming in late, but don’t let it get you down.

I think the default is 1 and you can’t increase that unless you ask for a waiver.

Then the waiver is by SKU/ASIN and if you add SKUs, you have to ask for a waiver for that new SKU.

Sorry…Been a bit busy just seeing this all now.

I on-boarded a few years ago – and it was stupid hard, that I hired someone to help me through the process. Then let them go after a year and have been fumbling through.

I keep it simple – much more so than many of you do for sure.

I use Payoneer. I think my payday is every two weeks and once they say on Monday they’ve sent it, I see it on Tuesday/Wednesday. (Same as Amazon for me).

Payoneer has my EIN, so I need that to log in once a year to get my 1099. They send you and email at the end of January and prompt you to download it. That info is not on Walmart.

Walmart is clunky IMHO compared to Amazon, that’s for sure, but they have improved.
