I miss the Ferry service from Friday Harbor to Sidney! My son is going to work a few months in Port Alberni but I’m gonna have to do the double ferry and go to Vancouver to visit.

We visited the same tea room, I think. I was last there in 1987. My academic sister’s group, which met in the western states and western Canada in alternate years, had a knack for choosing conference locations wisely.
It was a year after some sort of event or festival which meant a large number of hotels were brought online the year before that needed customers the year after, so we stayed in some beautiful hotels in Vancouver and Winnepeg, Scottsdale and Denver. I skipped Spokane and San Antonio.
My cousin from Pittsburgh who married a radiologist has just bought a condo in or near Vancouver, but I am not sure I am up for another trip there.
