I’m making my first product listing on Walmart.com US marketplace. It’s an herbal supplement. The product listing seems to be stuck in a hazmat review issue. The error description is a generic hazmat error message:
“Under hazmat review. Item will be on-hold for up to 72 business hours while review process takes place. Please use Seller Center Item On Hold page or On Hold API call for status tracking.”
It is telling me that Action is needed. However, there is no additional information or clarification what the problem is. I feel that I have filled in all the required fields in the product listing and have the correct images. However, I must be missing something still.
I do not have SDS but I feel that the product should be exempt. I did input an URL to my product label image pdf.
It’s been a couple years since we set a new item up on Walmart but ran into the same issue. With that said, I know a lot of the setup pages have changed since then but hopefully the below is helpful.
This is the note we got back on the issue from Walmart and we did what they mentioned here and everything went live:
From our “Incubator” manager:
I would like to inform you that the ‘Items on Hold’ page in Seller Center is now indicating that an action is required from your end for the given 4 items as the review process has now been completed.
Please note that your products are dietary supplement and as per Walmart’s policy, a supplement will be considered as a chemical product. For this reason, once you click on ‘Action Needed’ button for the given GTINs on 'Items on Hold page, the system will take you to item detail page wherein you have to go ‘Fulfillment & Compliance’ section.
Under ‘Fulfillment & Compliance’ section, kindly navigate to the attribute ‘Contains Chemical, Aerosol or Pesticide?’ and select ‘YES’ using the drop-down.
Once you select ‘Yes,’ you will then be required to fill two other attributes ‘Safety Data Sheet (URL)’ and ‘Number of Hazardous Components.’
As per our policy for hazmat products, we don’t require the ‘Safety Data Sheet URL’ for supplements, therefore you can go ahead and provide ‘Product Label Image URL’ in the ‘Safety Data Sheet (URL)’ cell.
Kindly mention ‘1’ in the ‘Number of Hazardous Components’ cell and click on the submit button. Once done, the details will again be reviewed by the concerned team and then they will be able to take a final decision.
Thank you for providing a detailed solution. I will giveit a try. It does not seem intuitive at all but if that’s the way to get it done then great. I’ll update update the thread with the results.
Big thanks to ASV_Vites. With his help I was able to actually get my product listings through into hazmat review. Also I was able to get one of my listings published. I have a couple others that seem to be stuck in review still.
Now I have to work on the product image and listing quality as I only see some of the images that I submitted in the listing. Overall, this is very good forward progress for me as far as Walmart is concerned.
