First Walmart hold our money for about 2 months on our Christmas sales with the reason of orders getting late on delivery, which clearly wasn’t our fault as USPS is busy on Christmas times and many orders are late. Because we still had all the business expenses, holding that money for so long time took us out of business. Then they finally transferred our money after 2 months but still kept $ 2,533.30 as reserved for security reasons. The fact is that in January we had couple of orders - After January 17th we had just 9 orders (in total worth of $105) Even on these orders deadlines are gone for return period but they keep $ 2,533.30 for the orders we had almost 4 months ago, last year. We don’t even sell anymore anything because they basically took us out of business. We’ve contacted to customer service not only once with the request at least to let us know when we would receive our money that they hold for no reason. They tell us to keep selling (which is ironic after they took us out of business) and that they don’t know when this money will be given to us as they they reserved it for security reasons in February. So they reserved money for the sales we had in December for security reasons and it’s March 24th today and they don’t even tell us when they will give us the money even though we don’t sell anything anymore.
Seems like they hold and use sellers money for their own business operations. But it’s not my business, it’s very clear that they shouldn’t be holding this money for months and months when all return and refund periods are gone.
Has anyone had a similar situation? Please, help us as the customer service just gives us ironic answers and tell us to keep selling after they took us out of business.
We are fairly new to Walmart selling, just about a year now.
Never had issue with on time payments from them.
We ship orders daily and occasionally there are “late deliveries” but the order is shipped on time and the delivery may be a day late but nothing beyond that.
Tracking numbers are accurate and package easy to trace. .
We are now on express pay with them and are paid every 2 days or so, but in the past were paid every 2 weeks like clockwork. Never experienced any type of hold.
Have you had a high rate of returns?
High rate of customers not receiving their order?
Performance areas continually in the red zone?
Thinking they may be holding your funds as a “reserve” to be sure buyers
can be refunded if necessary.
I have already mentioned in the post, the reason was orders being late on Christmas, which is an usual thing for Christmas times. Also, it was quite a new account and it would be still okay if they would hold money for 30 days, then they extended period to up to 59 days and after 59 days they still kept portion of money… There is no single reason for doing that while we don’t even sell anything.
It’s not me being happy or not. It’s what is going on nowadays in businesses. 2.5K isn’t something they need, I know that very well. I’m in this business for more than 10 years, only in e-commerce business. But holding money for different reasons on money accounts for many different unreasonable reasons becomes good overturn money. It’s like on Amazon, they are almost as big as Walmart but over years and years I’ve seen small sellers taken out, their listings and even branded products taken over by Amazon company for just to make more money. So, yup, that’s how it is unfortunately. But in this case I think it’s just a matter of them not care, which is still very wrong business practice and while they don’t care, yes, money stays on their account and yes it is used and it is used together with the money by many other sellers who were or are in the same situation. Still, it’s not reason not to do business, I don’t wanna discourage anyone, but there tons of problems like that in e-commerce business nowadays and I hope they will fix them.
4:15 here in New England, Eastern time zone. I see no mistakes. And again I agree, you should be paid. They just don’t care. They as in any company that big.
We, you and I care. We will do anything to take care of a customer.
There is a Walmart Rep that monitors one of the threads here. I wonder if they could help. We also sell there and find them a bit more responsive than Amazon.
I have to ask the question.
Were you shipping products from your own location or were you drop shipping?
Not accusing, just asking.
“I have already mentioned in the post, the reason was orders being late on Christmas, which is an usual thing for Christmas times.”
Have all those orders been delivered?
Are there any orders shipped after Christmas that may be inside of any return/claim window?
I know you said the late deliveries were around holiday time but beyond that were there late orders (either shipped or delivered late) or packages that have not arrived?
Any of these reasons may have put a red flag on your account that triggered a hold.
I believe any selling platform would do the same thing if a seller was under performing and had late or non deliveries repeatedly especially if you were not a long time seller to their site. We have all had late deliveries, packages mis delivered or not at all, and customers that complain because “they can”.
If none of those things have happened possibly make a call and open a case. Stay on that until you get some kind of answer.
Is Walmart providing any kind of explanation for the hold?
Of course they had been delivered. I’ve mentioned they are holding money for the orders that were shipped out in December. And there is no point it’s red or pink flag, Money shouldn’t be on “reserve” as we don’t sell anymore there. It’s very simple. Sold, shipped out on time, they got late because of Christmas times. Now it’s almost end of March. We don’t sell there anymore and they still have money on reserve for no reason. I’ve never seen it on any other platforms. Which return/claim windows we can talk about, I’ve mentioned in the beginning that they are still holding money for orders which were made in December. It’s just they don’t care and give stupid answers. I’ve opened already third case and there answer is that they have escalated the case to the people who can solve and we have never got the money or answer. At least they could tell us when we would receive the money but… whatever… it’s just a huge mess over there.
