How can I set different shipping charges per ASIN for some merchant fulfilled offers?

I have always offered FREE shipping on merchant fulfilled orders and want to keep that on most of my offers.

I have a new line that I want to charge shipping on, the amount will vary with each ASIN.

Is there a way to charge shipping without applying templates? I know there is a price-banded option but I would have to create new templates to apply to each ASIN if I have to go that route.

I am wondering if the age of my account is in play here with available options.

That would be incorporating the shipping cost into the selling price … otherwise no.

We agree with this. Usually, the ASINs can be set up within groups with certain parameters. Similar but not exactly the same but similar enough that the same shipping settings would work for that certain group of ASINs.

There is a way to set up a template where shipping starts out as a flat amount (say $4.00) and then there is an additional charge added per pound (or ounce if small) of say $1.00 per pound (or $0.50 per ounce). You would set the flat amount and the added on price per weight. As long as the items are not oversized, this could work for most small to medium sized items. If you work your prices out so that it covers the longest zone shipped to normally, then you should end up okay ( example … if using USPS, make sure this type of pricing covers for packages going to Zone 7).

I saw a message that one of the banded options was going away but don’t see that message now.

I am doing that with Free shipping on all existing sku’s. I don’t want to on the new ASINs, to match existing offers that vary within the brand. I was hoping to be able set the shipping charge on each sku on the My Inventory page but it looks like I will have to create multiple templates instead.

I am familiar with this from setting up the standard and expedited charges on current templates.

Some, but not all, members of our Seller Community actually received an emailed-Notification of the policy change currently embodied in this 060925 quote (which has remained unchanged as of today, 071625) from the text of the SHC (ā€œSeller Help Contentā€) page ā€œSet your shipping ratesā€ (link):

Available evidence I’m aware of strongly suggests that there were @ least two different versions of said e-mail Notification.

As is alluded in this reply to our friend @justalamb’s 060425 SAS thread (link) on the same subject, I’ve been following the ā€˜main’ NSFE discussion on this topic, ā€œConcern About Deprecation of Price-Banded Shipping – Need a Viable Solution for Size-Based Shipping Costsā€ (link), ever since the OP posted it on 052425; the latest developments there are KJ_Amazon’s efforts to provide clarity on whether or not amending a supposedly-ā€˜grandfathered’ long-existing Shipping Template will indeed be an afforded possibility.

A quick search of my inbox did not surface that email. I did see a notice on the template page yesterday but paid minor attention because I was not using it. It was probably the first time I accessed shipping templates since before June 30th so perhaps it was waiting for me to go there. The message is not there today.
