The platform just asked me to submit CPC for a product that children could use. Currently I’m reselling this item. However I plan to manufacture and import it with my own brand (white label) very soon. Hence I’m planning to do CPC for both the current product that I’m reselling and my white label one. According to Google, below is what I’ve found on how to get CPC. Is it this simple? Can you share your experiences or best practice or tips? Thank you.
Search for CPC approved labs in seller central. It will pop up a result that will give you everything you need to know including what labs are acceptable. Then you contact an approved lab and go from there. Don’t expect it to be cheap, easy, fast and don’t listen to what the factories tell you. It’s your liability once you import it, not the factories.
This was the route that we went with. It did take some time but wasn’t a hard process. When Amazon asked for it again last year, the parameters had change a little as to what needed to be stated on the CPC. We had to contact the company to get them to add it to the certificate as we had email proof of exchange that it should have been on the original.
The second time getting through Amazon was a pita. Although all of our product is the same with only an imprint design difference, Amazon accepted two … then with a mod help on NSFE, we got a couple more … and because the mod was persistent, all of them finally got through. It was mentally mind boggling. We had the documentation but the team verifying was in India … and we will leave it at that.
Thanks for the direction on how to get them. Is there a thing like pass or fail on the certificate? Would the labs be able to tell us the cost and how long it would take before we commit to the test?
Thank for sharing your experience. I didn’t know that this CPC thing needs to to be updated annually (yeah sounds like a PITA). So, CPC increases the investment cost on the new product (that hasn’t proven itself to sell). Hmm … I wonder if I could get CPC from the brand for the item that I’m reselling.
You should be able to … but, if the brand doesn’t want it sold on Amazon, then it could also be a can of worms. Guess it will depend on your relationship with the brand.
The yearly thing will be interesting as not all product is tested yearly. What we submitted last year was the original testing … it eventually got accepted but depended a lot on who reviewed. Ours was reviewed by different people and had different results … it was crazy.
Thanks for another insight. I actually bought this product at a deep discount from a local store. So, I have no relationship with the brand. Honestly I don’t even know if they brand actually have the CPC themselves. What incentive would the brand have to give me the CPC (if they have one)?
In case if the brand doesn’t share the CPC with me, I plan to get CPC with my own white label of this product. Does it mean that I have to wait until I have my own 3 samples to send to the lab (requirement) along with the resell items?
You do have to have samples to send in … complete with packaging (was a requirement for us) and we had to send in 6 samples (which may vary with the type of product being tested).
