I used an Ebay Feature I Hadn't Used in Years.

The can see your listing. Cannot buy it. Cannot message you.

I might have responded to ask if he really hates asking sellers to leave feedback for him, why is he doing it? Because sellers HATE being asked to leave feedback, as if itā€™s some type of obligation.

Iā€™ve asked a couple buyers why they are pestering me to leave them feedback when it is not required.

On the up side, I havenā€™t had a buyer send me one of those annoying messages in months. Maybe theyā€™ve all decided to bug @JustHere4TheComments instead? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The other option is to set your account for ā€œautomatic feedbackā€ for buyers which doesnā€™t matter anyway since you canā€™t leave negative feedback. That way youā€™ll never get those nasty messages.

I have found that about 50% of the Ebay low-ballers leave more than 2-3% negative feedback. My threshold is 3%. If it the feedback is for an Item Not Received and/or to a seller no longer registered, Iā€™ll ignore that particular negative feedback.

If they are above the 3% I add them to my blocked buyers list. I have a few hundred on my list now.

Pro Tip: If you have a particular troublesome buyer that you had to block, check in on their screenname ever few months. If they change it, they can still sneak in once the old ID falls off. You can also follow them to see if they ever sell an item. Iā€™m just petty enough to buy something back from them.

My dream is an automatic setting where you block any buyer that leaves more than x% negative feedback.

I have no recent experience in receiving negative FB.

My recent experience with questions is they only seem to occur on inexpensive items. They usually are either answered in the listing or are irrelevant to a buying decision.

Expectations from a buyer like these is biased toward them being disappointed. They usually do not know what they are buying.

I had such a set of questions from a buyer a couple of weeks back on a more expensive item, Instead of answering his questions, I gave him some background on the item, and what it is about the item which makes it attractive at the price. Shockingly, he bought it. It arrived early and in as expected condition and his fb indicated its pleasure.

Interesting, I didnā€™t know that was even an option.

Since eBay moved to Ground Advantage I get some orders showing Media Mail and some showing Ground Advantage when I go to purchase labels. None of my listings have media mail selected.

I can still go in manually and select USPS first class which Iā€™ve been doing, I didnā€™t catch this on a few of my earlier bulk shipments and think that some may have shipped out as media mailā€¦ :grimacing:

I also checked my shipped orders and many of the orders that were shipped the week of July 3rd are still showing as shipped/undelivered, but when I check USPS they show as delivered on or before July 10th. Anyone else showing a bunch of delivered orders as undelivered?

Hopefully, they will update and wonā€™t end up messing up my metrics.

On a side note:

I just got off the phone with a Postal Supervisor who has been trying to help me locate a lost package, and he said that selecting Ground Advantage may still take longer than First Class, apparently, the switchover has been causing major delays so just an FYI.

Where in the country is that supervisor located, do you know? Now that a week has passed, it seems like a good time to compare notes on GA performance. Iā€™ll start a new thread for that specific topic.

All of mine seem to show correct info from USPS, and everything is marked delivered except those shipped within the last few days.

Heā€™s located in Dearborn Michigan.

When talking with Postal workers/Supervisors over the years Iā€™ve learned to take what they say with a grain of salt.

He was trying to locate my missing package which shipped July 3rd and is still showing in transit with no updates since July 7th. He mentioned it was shipped GA and said that is why it is taking so long, that GA is a much slower service and typically used for batteries.

I asked why since First Class and GA have been combined and there should be no difference. I donā€™t even think I used GA on July 3rd, (it didnā€™t take effect until July 9th). He could just be trying to spout something out to sound knowledgeable and then went on to say that there have been delays and issues with the switchover. He was very nice but not very helpful.

Thanks for checking;

Digging a little deeper I figured out that all the orders showing undelivered are International orders, so they are showing as delivered (on USPS) to the eBay GLENDALE hub, but havenā€™t reached the customer yet. I just opted into International shipping a few weeks ago. :woman_facepalming:

The general vicinity of one of the problems I have encountered. The Detroit area is AFU

Since they started using DHL eCommerce EIS has been AFU, particulary for shipments to the UK. It can be two weeks before the package leaves Illinois or even more.

Iā€™m late to the party here but eBay doesnā€™t cull the list BUT they do make some changes to the list.

If you open yours up you might see some of the names are in a different color. All mine are the same or I would show an example.

The ones in ā€˜blackā€™ are still current buyers on the site but the ones that are a different color are ones that are no longer active with accounts (at least under that name).

I have gone through over time as I noticed this and deleted the inactive ones from my list. Iā€™m currently down to fewer than 50 and the most recent addition was a guy that asked if my items were sealed bags (yes) and then asked if they came from the factory (yes) and THEN asked if they were ā€˜pristine.ā€™

That was the final straw that ā€˜pristinedā€™ me off and I blocked them.

My suspicion is that they are migrants from AMAZON who have possibly had their buying accounts blocked there.

When I have had a couple issues that needed some support intervention I made sure to mention that the ā€˜buyerā€™ appeared to be an Amazon ā€˜entitled classā€™ buyer. That has generally helped fix the problem!

And, yes, sadly they are infesting the site.

I refuse to do that just because of the occasional problem even with normally good buyers.

If someone has a bug up their butt about something and becomes a pain I do NOT want to reward them at all.

I get your point, but you canā€™t leave bad feedback for buyers anyway so for the small number of bad buyers we get on the bay it works for us. Thereā€™s no real way to do it right anymore.
