Hello,
I have an issue with some items on a clients account. The items were originally setup in the wrong category. They have since been updated to the correct one, however the listings are slightly bugged now and basically I cannot upload any files to update them anymore. Also manual editing is blocked.
So the issue is these listings are being incorrectly charged a “Variable closing fee”.
From many, many, many hours put into trying fees 100 times as well as opening 100 amazon cases I have determined there are only two solutions.
-
Delete the entire listing/asin. Wait, and then relist it anew. This isn’t great because we will lose SR as well as any reviews.
-
Merge. Create a new listing and then request a merger of the two, which will hopefully fix any issues I am currently experiencing.
My question is, has anybody does this merge with Amazon? I am curious how difficult this will be to accomplish and are there any risks in doing so.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The part I haven’t figured out is how to get Amazon to merge the old one into the new ASIN instead of the other way around.

Paging Mr. Oneida Books. If he doesn’t know how to possibly fix this, nobody does.

Yeah, that is my biggest concern/question. The request through Amazon support seems simple enough. But, I would want to specify which one to take over.

Kind of like when Tried_Tested requested a single marketplace to be closed.
Worked out well. Be careful

So … the Merge Page has both a “Target” ASIN field and a “Source” ASIN field. The “Source” being the one you want to merge into the other.
More often than not this just doesn’t work on ASIN’s using a Product Id as an identifier because of something in the main fields not matching, (i.e. Product ID or such) but I’d try it.
I’ve only merged a couple (it’s somewhat easier with books pre-ISBN) and even that’s been a while.
Sorry I can’t be of more help.
