interesting new issue with "suppressed listings"

My sales went way down this past 3 weeks. I started looking into things and found this.

Listings being suppressed for not having a description. I have a description written but of course I am not in control of the listing (even as the only seller) so they won’t take my description.

Not being the featured seller anymore, even on listings I have had for 20 years and am the only seller.

It’s just ridiculous the sh**it Amazon pulls.

I’ve had this issue for years. If you find a workaround, please let me know!

You can sign up as a vendor, let Amazon source your product, and regain control of your listings (vendors outrank sellers). However, you’re just opening up a larger can of worms.

Amazon: failing upwards.

We have run into this issue before as well on listings that were created by someone else and we aren’t the brand owner of. The seller who created the listing is done selling it and does an Inventory Loader X deletion, removing all of their contributions to the listing. That leaves you with a suppressed listing due to the now missing info, and you’re stuck trying to find a way to fix it. I get why a seller would want to remove all ties to a listing they are now done with selling, but Amazon needs to provide a way for other sellers to correct it.

@MissMeliss 's explanation is one probability, because the page information is on the back-
end of the original offer. If you download a category listing report, you will see all the blanks where info is missing on your listings for ASINs that were not created by you. You could proactively edit your offer and copy the existing photo, description, bullets, etc. so they are also on your offer’s back-end. If Amazon will allow you to do an edit, that’s become a problem with their brand ownership bots in some cases. Those can be inaccurate too.

But also, every so often descriptions just disappear into an Amazon black hole, it seems to occur in waves and must be bot related. I’ve lost descriptions on listings that I originally created, that had descriptions for years in some cases and poof - they’re gone, the listing is suspended, as if I am the delinquent one that caused the now incomplete listings. This has been going on for at least 3-4 years, maybe more (time is flying).

I download category listings reports at least 3-4 times a year to have a record of the listing details that I initially provided, and I have used older reports to recover my info (bullets, descriptions, dims, etc.) and repair a listing when the bots wipe it out.
