I think a large percentage of shareholders and consumers would disagree with that statement. 
Just look at how things are manufactured today. We don’t have things like “lifetime” warranties on stuff like we used to. The only thing in your house you can repair yourself is grandmas KitchenAid mixer as an example. I still have a gen 1 Nest thermostat that is locked remotely because of planned obsolescence and lack of right to repair.
