Is this new? Report lower prices to Amazon directly from listings?

I don’t know if this is new, but I never noticed it before.
Amazon has a feature on listings where buyers can report lower prices, both on and off Amazon?
For several reasons, this gets under my skin.

Report a lower price has been around for a while, doesn’t mean they take any action on it though. No idea how the data is used, if at all

We have seen it before on listings but is hasn’t been on all listings.

Or even what triggers it to be placed on the listing that it shows up on.

I don’t know. I just know that the high price bot is already a broken, listing killing, price fixing disaster and anything that even potentially makes it worse ranks just below a migraine on my list of things I want to deal with on a given day.

Spot-on.

I first noticed this “feature” appearing on some PDPs shortly after regulatory pressure - both foreign & domestic - resulted in the removal of the “S-4 Parity with Your Sales Channels.” section of the ASBSA (“Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement”) on 031119, and the subsequent deployment of the Fair Pricing Amabot.

Over the years since those developments, it seems to me that there’s some fairly credible evidence that this feature has been weaponized by Bad Actors against their competition.

I guess it’s been around for a while and I just never noticed it before.

I have seen it for some time, but only sometimes. Not on every product.

I have no idea what happens if you do report a lower price, but I’ll pay attention and experiment if I find it, and report back here.

I know exactly what happens.
Another one of my listings gets shut down. The only way get it reactivated is to slip the high price bot 2 Benjamins and get a room full of kids to say “I do believe in fairies, I do believe in fairies!”
