Lag Time Vs. Vacation Days (partial solution I think)

Really don’t want this “solution” or suggeston to get lost in the other thread.

Basically, I’ve been complaining that Walmart only lets you mark 15 days off and 10 of those are federal holidays with no USPS service, or ANY service on some days.

Walmart said “OH WELL”

A lag time spreadsheet seems to be the way to go. Long time ago, I was told that anything for more than 2 days must be waived on a SKU level. So I submitted all of my actual handmade items and requested 3 days. They said they would not go beyond 3 days. (On Amazon, I have them at 4 days to give me a chance to sew what I may not have sewn already and ready to go).

That 3 day lag time didn’t seem to stick. I’d sell one, make another available and bam, sell another one the next day without the 3 days to sew it up. So I sewed my butt off and now try to make sure I have one ready to go at all times.

But yesterday, I uploaded a 2 day lag time sheet. And “wow” – great results, though not the results I was expecting either. But I can work with it.

Yesterday morning, I uploaded.

This morning I have this:
WalmartResults

So I did the math wrong. Since it was before 11 am, I though “Tuesday, Wednesday, ship Thursday”

But that top order was done on the 19th and it still says ship the 21st. Well, OK.

AND I find it funny that I got so many orders, when Walmart usually has one or two a day…I got more than that today.

So after 11 am, I’ll set it back to 1 day. 0 days didn’t work at all because I got an order in like at 6 pm and Walmart still expected me to ship it out, so I uploaded 1 day and leave it there.

All of the 18 orders may have one day added because of June 19th holiday otherwise they probably would have been the 2 day and ship on June 20th.

Just our theory … but seems logical.

There’s a person over in the Walmart Seller’s Facebook group who said that Walmart acknowledges Federal Holidays. So the math goes…Wednesday is a Holiday, Thursday Friday Ship.

If this is true…and I do think this person gives good advice in a Facebook group, WHY couldn’t seller support say this?

Very glad I saw this before I merged them!

For anyone interested, here’s “the other thread”:

July 4th is the next day to test. Thankfully that’s not too far off.

So IMHO – Federal Holidays ARE recognized by Walmart they are just not marked on their calendar like Saturdays and Sundays – NOR have I found a published list like Amazon does.

I also think this is a newer change – as in a year ago, this may not have been true.

Any idea why orders coming in up to 6 pm EST are given ship dates as the same day?
We always ship same day but our last mail pick up is at 4 PM. Guessing the 6 PM Time is Pacific rather than Eastern?
We always print the label (on time) but once the last pick up happens and those orders are after that cut off, they don’t actually leave our facility until the next day.
Don’t see any way to make any kind of changes to this. Any thoughts?

Look under

Shipping Info

Fulfillment Center

Edit Fulfillment Center

That’s where I found the cut off time and they changed it so it can be no earlier than 11 am. (For a while I had that set to 7 am, and now that’s not available as a choice).

Thank you for this, I checked to see what time we had scheduled as shipment cut off and it’s showing 3 pm.
For some reason the system must think we are on Pacific Time.
I added our other location as a second default fulfillment location and put the cut off at 1 pm.
This seems to have solved the issue.

Staying on the “Lag time” theme here.

When I edit an item I don’t see the “lag time” value.
How do i find or where does it show what the lag time is for a specific item?

Can it only be seen in a report?

Handling time? might be under a different tab depending on your category?

This is mine for kitchen and table linens:

Thanks but this was a Walmart Category post

I should have specified.

AND – I wasn’t paying attention.

SO … for Walmart…let me go look.

I was under the (probably mistaken) assumption that Walmart does not have a per SKU lag time, only at the account level.

I would love to be wrong about this.

OK… In my experience, Walmart allows for a 1 OR 2 day lag time. 3 days must be approved at a SKU level and you have to give a reason. I have handmade so I asked for a SKU level exemption and got it. BUT it was or is troublesome, so I gave up. I now have one ready to go and the 1 day lag time seems to be ok. And I only make 1 available at a time. (but that’s my situation)

SO…you can only do it with an uploaded spreadsheet. I just looked through one of my items and didn’t see the field (like I do on Amazon).

I remember downloading I think it was an item report to get all the SKUs so I could clip copy paste them into this report.

Hope I chose the right pictures in order to help you find it.

Thank you.
I can’t believe that when I edit an Item there is no field

Lag Time = X (Handling Time)
somewhere, just so I can verify what I uploaded worked.
I like to hook my PEEPERS on 'em to feel safe.

Even if I can only set it to 1 or 2 - it should be easier for sellers to review at item level.

So the report just finished…all errors

The system requires lag time exception approval for category {0}. See Seller Community to troubleshoot. If the issue persists, contact the support team at Seller Community

So I guess “2” isn’t an option without approval.

Well, ASK even if I had a bad experience with it (a few years ago).

I would sell a handmade item, and then relist one and the lag time seem to reverto to 1 instead of 3. It was weird and so I gave up trying to keep up with it and sewed to have one ready at all times.
