Saw this sign years ago on a tour of breweries we take on summer weekends. (They are customers or prospective customers of one of our brands.)

Similar to this Seinfeld clip, I was in the bathroom at work when a coworker flushed, came out of the stall, and walked past the sinks on his way out the door. The next day was a potluck lunch, and I watched like a hawk to see what he brought (ham sandwich sliders) and avoided it like the plague.

Take the wife in for a Doctor (surgeon) appointment and the first thing she sees is that the exam table is low enough (she’s 4’8" tall) for her to get up on.

She remarks … “They should have more of these exam tables like this in the other rooms.”

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that they put her in a pediatric room.

My son teaches English as a foreign language. I never gave it much thought until recently, but English is a difficult language, and many native speakers don’t get it right.

Rain, rein, reign.

I read lots of reader comments in the NYT, WP, WSJ and the Boston Globe. Their use of the English language pales when it comes to the reader comments in The Guardian, perhaps another way the US is falling behind in education.

My son says, after all of his training in TEFL, and 10+ years of teaching, in the US, and in Asia, that he is really teaching the middle school English he learned at his private school in the Bronx, where writing was intensely taught. My husband also graduated from the same school, and I often refer to him as a walking dictionary.
