Linking our UPS account to Amazon

I run into instances where my UPS account is offering me rates that are 20% less than Amazon’s UPS rates (larger boxes, mainly). I know my UPS account can be linked to my Amazon account, but do I still get INR, A2Z, and Buy Shipping (metrics) protection if it’s tagged to my UPS account?

Thoughts on this?

You SHOULD still get those coverages as long as you use the buy shipping interface

We love the way we all use the words “should, could and maybe” when talking about Amazon.

I’ve had mine connected for many years, and am always covered. It’s all about using the Amazon Buy Shipping.

However, it is Amazon so that could change at any time.

How do you add it? Is there a way to toggle between the two UPS accounts “on the fly?”

(hover at the gear top right)
Go to Account Info, DO NOT GO TO SHIPPING SETTINGS (that’d be too obvious moron :face_with_monocle:) click >
Shipping and Returns Information (left side menu) click >
Buy Shipping Preferences (middle of screen) click >
Carrier Accounts (right side of screen) look down >
Manage Your Carrier Accounts (button) click >
Link Account (or Unlink) button (middle of screen)

Theoretically, you could toggle back and forth, but then you’d have to wade through the GUI…

Have I said how much I hate the Amazon GUI? I think I have, dozens of times, but I will say it again. I HATE the GUI! Too many clicks required for most things because they’re buried in too many menus and too much scrolling (this isn’t social media) because they can’t get “everything above the fold” with their dumbass graphics and layouts. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

TLDR (the shortcut): 亚马逊 登录 ← (edit 10/2 at 1:28 EDT) Am I the only one seeing this as Chinese characters?

No, you’re not - it’s a new wrinkle (from the previous paradigm of displaying Arabic script); I first noted it myself earlier this month, as mentioned in the asterisked 'Hide Details" footnote to this SAS post:

No, I see it also. Amazon links in general for some reason come up as non Greek characters, not just here, but other sites also. It is something wrong in the basecode of Amazon. Has been very visible since the migration to the NSFE

Or it shows their bias toward their most important clients. :face_with_monocle:

It only makes it harder for non-chinese (or I guess Arabic before) readers, but the spiders have no problem with it right?

Sometimes, I have seen some Amazon page results in Google with Hanzi Characters for the title.

EDIT TO ADD:
All pages and in Customer pages, Aka Seller Central, Seller Policy and/or Seller Forums

That makes me think they are doing it on purpose to try and “hide” the “back of house” links like they are DisneyWorld with the cast member tunnels.

If that’s the case, they aren’t doing it well cause google still indexes them and pulls context from the content of the page. It just makes Amazon look bad coding wise. Looks sloppy

In #1 to by pass the Chinese characters, we dropped the link into the

insert link in the above menu when you post.

In #2, we replaced the Chinese characters within the link text with English characters.

Our guess would be that the Amazon site is using some translation bot between marketplaces and has some glitches which is why we see #3 when we direct copy paste.

I like my theory better.

Sorry to derail the topic.
