MAP field

Anyone else notice the new MAP field in SellerCentral?

I can’t find any information about how it works? Is this only for automated re-pricing so that you don’t go under MAP?

The circled “?” info reveals …

This would make sense (but we have not found validation of it).
This could be a way to insure sellers don’t set a sale/advertised price under a given MAP entered into this field. If a seller sets up a sale price discount % in advertising that would go below this price, then that sale price discount % would not be allowed.

But there’s also still a Min and Max price field.

Correct

I’ve never known setting MAP to prevent the displaying of an offer. Heck, on the OSFE I seem to recall many complaining about Amazon selling below MAP when they couldn’t.

I also don’t believe Amazon enforces MAP (Minimum Advertised Price).

We think it is new as we have never had it on our listings until we looked today after this was pointed out. It might be an attempt to solve the problem as seen on OSFE.

Oh, Amazon’s docs still say that they don’t enforce MAP (I looked). Which is why I was trying to figure out why they added it.

It has long been available through file uploads.

Maybe things will change?

Overall I can’t see any reasoning here. Amazon has no way to verify MAP or likely to waste resources on it.

What I have seen over the past few years now is that the PUBLISHED information lags far behind the actual enforcement.

There were many discussions on the NSFE with the MODS where it was pretty apparent (to me at least) that the MODS were leading the way as far as requiring invoices and LOAs.

I’m much more interested in what Amazon will DO rather than what they have written anyplace. They are sure to use weasel/waffle language so that they can do whatever they want in reality, written policy be damned.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: literally nothing :rofl::rofl::rofl:

This is everything a new Seller ever needs to know about Amazon: “Here’s a surprise new field for the Amastrologists to interpret, and here’s a button for help that makes it all worse! Bezos!”

What makes that field even MORE useless (unless they are actually going to enforce MAP at the request of brands) is that a number of my suppliers (brand direct) do NOT furnish either a MAP or a Suggested Retail price.

If they are going to enforce MAP they really need to get those prices from the brands and not from sellers that have a vested interest in NOT being honest (or up to date) with the prices.

Of course, asking all the foxes to guard the MAP hen house is SOP. After all, by assuring Amazon that they all have LOAs and legitimate invoices, the number of suspensions has declined to almost ZERO. /S

Keep doing what you been doing and keep getting what you been getting is engraved on the walls at Amazon.
