Did I even have a sale this week? Maybe something or another, but they’re getting so spread out it’s hard to keep track of the occasional blip.
I finally bit the bullet and upped my prices to cover postal increases, which I’ve been avoiding for at least 2 years. Despite my having gobs and gobs of listings, Amazon and eBay were relatively easy because prices could be adjusted from the main inventory page.
MakerPlace, however, is a royal pain because I have to go into each listing to edit all the variations. I wasted the better part of 2 days and I’m still not done because my mind keeps wandering.
Which brings us to today’s big rhetorical question — why do I even bother? Michaels no longer advertises MakerPlace, no one sees my shop, and I rarely sell anything. I leave the shop open because it’s free, but it’s getting harder to rationalize the time I spend just adjusting prices.
I was going to post this in MakerPlace, but the the most recent thread is 2 years old.
Doing the same right now and actually you have to go into every listing variation or not instead of at least a quick edit function like Etsy. Since all my increases are usually a same number (postage) Ebay is the easiest and I wish all venues had the same feature (bulk edit by amount or percentage).
I put MP on vacation earlier this year and have no plans of reopening. Not worth the time. And I worried that I would get an order and not be notified (like has happened before).
Another one? glubglubglub (aka drowning sound). I added $1. Now I’m wondering when I’ll need to bite the next price-adjusting bullet.
The last metals price bump for all my platforms was this summer. I adjust as I restock. The good news is, I’ve always bought large quantities. The flip side is good/bad: sales have been so slow, I won’t run out of most supplies for a while. The worse news is, when I do restock, my prices will jump up a lot.
I also have not posted in this MakerPlace section because it has been 2 years since any new topics were started.
I keep my MakerPlace store because it is already set up and free. I think if Michael’s is not going to promote their handmade stores, then they should disband them.
I would not recommend that anyone spend any time updating their listings on MakerPlace. I have had two MakerPlace sales this year which is twice as many as I had last year
I think I’ve seen one MakerPlace ad on IG since January.
I happened to go to Michaels in February or March, and a display stand at the entrance said something about the next in-person MP sales event. I snapped a photo to share here, but it’s lost to my camera roll now.
We have not had a single sale on Michaels MakerPlace, since we started. Though I will say we have not tried to hard. No reward for the risk no sales. Thus no motivation to do the work.
I will say where else can you sign up to make money and get a coupon EVERY day? At least I got a spam generator absolutely free!
