Did I miss something?
I have a company I’ve been dealing with for years. They changed their brand name (nothing under the new brand name is listed on Amazon) and now Amazon wants me to “apply” to sell the brand?
This is just something I have been getting from the manufacturer for 8 years now. The manufacturer does not do B2C.
I do not bundle.
Any help would be appreciated.

Then the UPC’s changed also … correct?
If the UPC’s changed, then new listings would be needed.
Because it is a new brand to Amazon.
So you would have direct invoices for the product with the new brand name? Can you get a LOA?
In short, yes … Amazon has been requesting sellers to apply.
Apply to sell a product, category, or brand

Yes, the prefix has changed for the UPC code. When I enter the old brand name/manufacturer with the new UPC number, my “draft” accepts it. I haven’t actually created the listing yet, though.
This manufacturer has seasonal products which change every year. For each year prior, creating a new listing was easy. Not now.
I do have direct invoices from the manufacturer. I’ve never needed a LOA before to sell the brand so it has been a non-issue until now.

Check the new UPC in GS1 to see how it is listed in there … with old brand name or new brand name. Amazon will default to the brand name associated with the UPC from GS1 database.
What is in GS1 would be what we would list with.
Good
Might consider getting one from the manufacturer / brand.

@Lost_My_Marbles I looked it up and it is to the same parent company that it was previously. So I guess I won’t have an issue with using the previous name.

Same parent company is good but the brand name listed in GS1 also counts … use the correct brand name to avoid future issues.

You may face an additional hurdle with Amazon as well.
I have not seen a general announcement but I know that for books (in the US) they are NOT allowing sellers to create any new ASINs.
Only the brands (publishers in the case of books) are permitted to create ASINs at this time. The same situation has shown up in some posts about other products/categories as well.
The only comments I have seen are from MODS stating that the brand owners are now required to create new listings BUT (as always) there is no consistency on Amazon as to categories/products affected by the change.
Good luck!
