New email subjects on buyer side

Amazon used to put item names in email subjects and notifications. Sometime mid month that all changed, now it’s just The category the item is listed in.

Example: “Ordered: 2 Office and Home Improvement Items”
The above is poorly worded, as the order was for a total of 2 items, one office supply, one home improvement item.

I see why they are doing this, and I don’t hate it, but wait till someone orders something that is mis-catagorized as adult!

We have noticed this also … we do not like it. We have an order right now that would fit into the Auto Accessory category but our email says we ordered a Hardware item.

Sometimes we have multiple orders placed at the same time. We use to be able to match ordered emails to shipped emails and consolidate them with the delivered emails just by being able to see the individual item(s) listed in the emails. Even the order number is stripped from the Subject Line so you can’t match that way.

One would think that all this AI power would create a more informative email and not a more dumbed down email.

It’s kind of weird, like their bots couldn’t possible know what item was ordered? It’s bad enough they can’t include a photo of the item, but now a vague category as well.

As a seller, I am still missing the fba shipment emails that listed the state.

Ah – I thought it was a one time incident. Did not realize it was the wave of the future.

As Lost My Marbles states, one would think that AI could be used to improve those messages.

“Ordered something or other” could be used for everything, but if that is too hard for the bots to type, just “Ordered stuff” could keep them from being overworked.

Amazon has never provided any information in those emails – the subject header is (was) the only useful aspect.
