If you’re part of the seller-fulfilled network, you can update product dimensions and weight for Amazon prepaid return labels through a new returns feature.
This feature will reduce carrier fee adjustments, based on incorrect dimensions, to your Amazon prepaid return labels for return shipments.
If you bought the original shipping label using Amazon’s Buy Shipping services, the dimensions from the original label will automatically be used for generating the return label.
To update the dimensions for your products, click SKU attributes in your Seller Central return settings.
To be fair, Amazon has specified one or another version of this type of requirement for Returns in various CHC ("Customer-facing Help Content) pages over the years - which is why we ourselves still have that in our Return Instructions - but I’m of a mixed mind about this latest initiative.
If the new SKU Attributes functionality for Return Settings does indeed result in the Buyer using oversized packaging being directly charged when the carrier intake process notices a discrepancy, that’s all well and good.
Nevertheless, I remain trepid that this will be the case, because our friend @dwat0870’s mirthful reply to the aforementioned Headline-accompanying OSFE thread is seared into my memory:
I’m not sure how ‘mirthful’ Danny_amazon will be when he sees that I just ‘suggested’ they use a BIT more forceful language instead of wimping out. And, yes the short list was added!
