New star ratings UI on desktop search

We’re all one star rating. I hate it. We don’t know numerologistics

I like that…!

Haven’t been on to check anything in the last 3 days. Been redoing my daughters room while she’s away. She’s been wanting this for the the last few years…

I didn’t even check Amazon sales since Sun… Worked 42 of the last 48 hours. It’s done and she’s coming home tomorrow…

A picture is worth a 1,000 words … or so we have been told.
On a listing, Amazon suggests using more images because it helps sell the item.

This 4.5 :star2: 88% 4+ stars will be skipped over because people will not slow down to read and translate into knowledge. They were trained for years to just view the :star: :star: :star: image and decide from there.

Second that …

They must be A/B testing, because mine looks normal.

I have it - do not like.

In handmade most of my items with ratings sit with 2-4 of them. So one that got one 4* and one 5* now says “54% 5*” which looks a lot worse than four-and-a-half yellow stars…

I do like the additional clarification to the star summary (e.g., 92% 4+ stars). But yeah, you see :star:, you think “1 star”.

Or maybe category-specific? I just searched “spiral hair pins” on mobile, in both mobile and desktop view, and also did not see it.

ETA:

Ok, YES, that’s actually not great. Perhaps Amazon should only do this for ASINs with at least 10 reviews or something :grimacing:

Yesterday when I checked, all my search result had the same new star/rating system as yours, but I just checked again this morning, and it’s back to what it was use to be.

So, what’s happening?

ATE: Just checked on yours, they are also showing rating the old way too.

You guys just want something like this:

This one is nice too…

That’s any listing with just one 4* review - normally fine!

Haven’t seen it on all listings (not on ours yet) but do see it consistently on search returns like

A search for boys 505 jeans

Yeah not sure I’m liking it. It used to be easy to see how many ratings were on a product, not any more from the search page

Typical amazon…let’s fuq with a good thing :joy:

That’s terrible. We all hate it, so Amazon will keep it :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
If buyers knew what a day in the life of an Amazon seller is like, they would support the competitors.

10,000% agree. BUT… Buyers know how poorly Amazon workers are treated and they don’t seem to care about that so my assumption is money trumps all as usual and buyers care more about getting the best deal possible and not what it takes to get the product they bought to them from start to finish, including the seller.

I’ve said this many times before on the OSFE and here. 95% of Amazon shoppers have no idea that Amazon is a marketplace with avg people on the other side as the merchants. They think they are buying from a giant 100% of the time which is the reason why they don’t care about stealing either when they feel like it.

Totally agree. I hate the one star as well. There are some math impaired people who don’t know the difference between 3.6 and 4.6. Showing a picture of stars make more sense. Again, these Amazon employees have nothing productive to do. Amazon should lay off more employees.

Or they think they are buying from China.

Sadly mostly everything everyone buys is from China. That’s been established in American’s psyche for decades.

Now we get to enjoy their pests:

Murder Hornets
Tiger Mosquitos
Lantern Flies

[mod edit OT]

And this morning I have reverted back to the standard 1-5 star layout on my desktop

It was switching back and forth between the old and new on my PC the last few days.

This morning the new version changed to a newer version, which I think is better than the version with the “% 5-star”:
