Uh-oh, Amazon. Looks like you can still get bad press with a member-doxxing-but-also-public-anonymized NSFE, and journalists and Sellers can still find ways to connect.
What I would like to see investigated are the retro-charges for packages that have long since been shipped and delivered. As always we can assume that forum complaints only represent a small portion of affected sellers. And as many have pointed out – this does not occur elsewhere. Only Amazon. I am 100% certain that some sellers lie about package dimensions to save money. But I don’t think that explains most of it.
This is not a personal grudge – I don’t use Amazon buy-shipping.
I dislike the fact that they don’t give you a way to appeal these charges. I have gotten APV adjustments from USPS before for orders on our other sales channels, but I am able to email USPS and get those appealed. Amazon gives you no such recourse.
Well, for inbound they’re telling you up front what, if any, placement fees will be incurred. There’s definitely no appeal for those as you have to agree to those before sending the shipment.
I’m not referring to FBA shipping charges. I’m talking about the shipping correction charges that they apply to FBM orders. They’ll claim that the weight or dimensions were wrong, and a lot of the time won’t show what the carrier is saying they were. You’re just stuck with the charge.
I wonder if Amazon gets a cut of the buy shipping proceeds. My guess is that they do, and they have some agreement with the carrier to not open disputes in exchange for something.
