So far, there’s one reply, and it seems quite thorough: Used books: Amazon vs. EBay. Kudos to the helpful Seller! And please let us know it’s you, if you’re an SAS member!
Otherwise, I was just wondering what else any lone thinks that the NSFE OP should be considering?
And I’ll be glad to pass along any other points if someone doesn’t want to venture there themselves.
What I love about questions like this (besides the fact that it’s refreshing to see someone asking BEFORE they screw up), is that it makes me think about it, and sometimes that can change my own strategy. I may follow some of my own advice and start cross posting a few more of the valuable books.
Your reply was so good that I almost didn’t even post this! But then I thought, others on SAS who are NSFE-avoidant might have more insight to share, for this or any other new Seller.
Like almost any other category on Amazon, there are approvals required if you intend to sell books from some publishers.
Ebay is far less likely to seek information on your sourcing or prevent your listings books unless they are being censored. Ebay censors slightly less than Amazon.
Based on posts on the NSFE, this varies GREATLY depending on how long you’ve been selling. new sellers report being blocked from dozens of publishers that the established sellers have never had to seek approval.
Good for those of us around for a while, but still seems a bit unfair.
(plus some of it makes no sense; I can sell hardcovers from Marvel, but not softcover; other sellers have reported the opposite. And I can sell some titles from Pearson; but some of their slowest sellers are blocked)
Indeed but it generally makes Ebay an order of magnitude more welcoming to booksellers than Amazon, and should factor in decisions by new sellers about the two venues.
Seems to me some of our well established booksellers on SAS are being prevented from listing some publishers. And some of my permanently on vacation Amazon listings were flagged as restricted earlier this week.
