[NYT] Stowaway Cat Gets From Utah to California in Amazon Returns Package

30lbs of shoes pushing/slamming against a cat on a ups truck/ conveyer belts / air plane? I’ve also seen a cat squeeze into a 2 inch gap to get under my house, I really think a cat could probably get out of the gap in the box.

If amazon hasn’t commented that also screams red flag to me.

Considering this “went viral” on Facebook (I have to even wonder if it went viral as there really isn’t so many likes or comments on the Facebook posts), and of course the Facebook poster has her own business selling some sort of Disney travel…anything for 15 minutes of fame??

Amazon not commenting is standard procedure. Big companies don’t comment on news stories in general. There’s many strange elements of the story though which don’t seem right, especially the part where the employees just decided to call a friend to take it home instead of calling the city’s animal control dept. Amazon doesn’t take kindly to workers not working without a good reason (which means they’d have to alert some kind of manager to the problem) and any manager would pass off the issue to the authorities to CYA.

This article actually does have a comment from Amazon, link to the reunification video (bless kitty girl’s heart, you can see how stressed she is by how much she’s shedding, and looking around for her cat dad is ), and more details in general.

The employee contacted by her fellow Amazon warehouse workers is also a cat rescuer.

This story was just talked (joked) about on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. :smiley_cat:
