Portugal’s grid operator REN said that “extreme temperature variations” had produced a “rare atmospheric phenomenon” that caused the cuts. What is believed to be Europe’s largest ever power cut grounded flights, halted trains, left whole cities without electricity or the internet and millions without vital services.

At the time I posted, only FedEx appeared to be having a site problem.
In the context of this thread, I assumed you were suggesting that these countries which are among the economically weakest of the EU were causing widespread problems on the internet.
Everything points to the outage having little effect on anything outside the areas affected.
SellersAskSellers does have members from these areas, but Sellers (all businesses) worldwide do well to keep their eyes on power grid issues that can have cascading ill effects.
If you personally didn’t see any, that’s great.
Several of my US-based business contacts did see effects.
It never hurts to be vigilant.
On the MSP side of our biz, we do not accept clients who don’t have a legally-registered U.S.-domiciled presence - but several of those who do flooded* our Help Desk with tickets from some of their far-flung employees who are domiciled in the affected region(s), and/or situated where this breakdown imposed an impact upon their access to the World Wide Web, and/or just ‘impropitiously’ blanched @ the possibility of being blindsided.
For many a year, it’s been my experience that if’n yer willin’ to dive deep enuff, you’re likely to find that Everything IS Connected, in one way or t’other…so I second this:
