Odd return

Got a weird one on the Bay today. Sold a customer a necklace made from ceramic beads. But they’re not happy with it.

Why? Because, according to the customer," it’s not ceramic, it’s coral". (considering that this was listed while we were still suffering effects of COVID, entirely possible we got it wrong) So they want to return it.

Bad news is an INAD hit. But if they’re right, we’ll relist for probably 3-4x what they paid for it! Hopefully they’re right!

How much does 1 INAD affect an eBay account?

That was weird. Ceramic beads are usually bright and shiny with identical color, while coral beads have a matte finish with visible tiny imperfections. If you still have a picture you could enlarge it to see if you can spot the visible difference. I would be curious to know what you discover.

I don’t think that a single one is that bad; but they so stick around a lot longer than on Amazon.

Yeah, that’s totally Nisha’s department, so I didn’t see it. We’ll just have to wait until we get it back.

Not much. So long as a seller does resolve the issue with the buyer it does not affect the seller level.

There are seller service metrics which compare your performance relative to INADs to other sellers in the categories you sell in, but no published goals to be met.

The major effect is when it becomes apparent to Ebay that the seller is a crook and he/she is NARUed.

It is not even clear to me that if a buyer just notifies a seller of an INAD and he refunds due to not as described, it gets counted. I had such a case last week and no metric has changed.

In many ways, Ebay rating of seller performance is more objective than Amazon. Negative FB does not count. Canceled orders due to out of stock count a lot. Failure to resolve problems with buyers counts a lot. Late shipments count a lot. Tracking upload on time counts a lot.

INRs are not important, because of the importance of Late shipment date and tracking upload.

Returns are counted, with no target.
