Is it just me or is it, meh?
Isn’t it always?
I’ve actually never bought anything during Prime Days. I don’t even have a Prime account. But my impression was always that the items I would actually pay money for were not discounted much, if at all.
it’s always been Meh.
My favorite is I just looked for dash cams and they are pushing HUGE deals. Yeah they raised the price then claim 20% off. The prices were just 5% more last week.
HUGE DEALS
Amazon (1P) can do that but 3P sellers can’t. Gotta be at least 20% off.
IDK… We are seeing great deals on consumables we buy from Amazon all the time and are buying them.
Heard a report today that sales for the first 4 hours were down 14% over LY. Well yea… Give people 4 days instead of 2 and things will be spread out more which I think was the intention to take the pressure off the FC’s.
On the seller side, because we participate in every event Amazon does - things look good. I don’t think we will do what we did on day 1 LY but I I know we will crush the week.
Didn’t really see the typical lag in the weeks since it was announced either which is good. Certainly will see a drag for 10-14 days after though I am sure with such a loyal customer base.
Thanks for the reminder. I just set my Amazon account on vacation.
I’ll come back in a few days…maybe…probably…
To my surprise, we had a better-than-decent, nearly excellent day sales-wise. .Forgot it was Prime Day-had chaos in our personal lives lately, constant travel due to family emergencies-and yesterday I had a surgical procedure. So after stumbling around, getting orders out this morning, went to bed-slept 9 hours.
Making like Rip-Van-Winkle(not the Manga/Hellsing one, Washington Irving’s character who slept for years) may be the best way to meet PRIME DAY. Other years, have listed like crazy, adjusted prices w/ few tangible results.
Since MEH, as @Pepper_Thine_Angus states, exactly describes my present mood, letting any/all sales take us by surprise! .
It has been more and more Meh the past couple of years.
Basically I’m sure many people do as I do: Store stuff “for later” in my cart, stuff I will buy at some point probably, and then scroll through that list for only the best deals.
There are a couple of things I buy on the regular, so I stock up on Prime day. That generates net-negative income on the items for the seller (in this case amazon, yay).
Just from glancing, there seem to be more solid brand names this year, not just “kjsldbflkj” brand so to speak.
Is(are) prime day(s) over?
Is it safe to come back now?
Not yet… 11.5 hours left…
I’ll be up past 3AM EST here in NY to make some adjustments (reinstating SNS discount coups and making some price changes)…
Sitting here wondering just how bad the hangover will be after a 4 day event…
Will be interesting when I look at every single order in a week post-shipment to see how many new buyers we got from the event. Would be nice if Amazon’s NTB (new to brand analytics) actually were even remotely close to accurate.
Hope we didn’t give all this $ away to existing customers but I estimate that at least 60% of our orders will be just that. It’s nice to get new ones though and these events have helped us greatly build our brands so not complaining.
Only complaining about my perceived future inability to restock due to capacity limits, blocks on justified replenishment shipments, and huge delays in check in’s / pickups, transfers.
Amazon is awesome… ![]()
Watching commercials during Clarkson’s Farm has pushed me to NGAF about Prime Days as a prime member.
Amazon arrivals at the condo stopped after day 1. Given the three deliveries each day which is normal, I truly hope we are not typical of the results elsewhere.
Bought another Prime Video 99 cents a mo subscription, still had a 50 cent digital credit left.
Prime Video is pushing rentals so heavily so that actually viewing what’s available on a service you subscribe to is much harder than it used to be.
All of the Prime Day hoopla made me want to buy something.
So I made a purchase on Ebay from the local Goodwill. An open box 10" tablet with Android 13 and 4G wireless. Cheaper than a kindle fire. Not sure if I am going to add it to my Xfinity wireless service but it should cost me nothing if I do. Eventually it will stop working when 4G is dropped. I assume Prime Day distracted from this Ebay auction because I did not imagine paying $25 plus shipping for one of these. Even if it lacked the cell phone connectivity.,
Amazing how a bigger screen helps these old eyes.
It arrived in one day, even though it shipped via FEDEX Ground. And the box was not damaged or filthy.
A small bright spot in a MEH world.
