Are you a Lion, Bear, Wolf, or Dolphin?
(I’m pretty sure I’m a Dolphin. Yikes.)

LOL I’m a Dolphin with Wolf tendencies. My productive energy hits mid-/late-afternoon through late night. But unfortunately, most of my non-negotiable responsibilities and activities are not those times.

@Dogtamer I see you replying. No quiz needed, you’re a WOLF, baby! ETA: and also @ASV_Vites I’m pretty sure. My fellow night owls.
Upon further examination of Mr. Gilkey’s article, I find that I do not neatly fit into any of his (or Dr. Breus’) stereotypes.
My conclusion is that I’m a Rutabaga, nicely-flavored with a hint of spam… ![]()
Freakboy.
We cycle through …
- Mondays - Lion … beginning of the week … get it done.
- Tuesday - Bear … still going to get it done but a couple cups of coffee first.
- Wednesday - Wolf … hey it is hump day and we had things to do during the day.
- Thursday - Dolphin … you know Friday is tomorrow … we’re starting to get happy because the weekend is near.
- Friday, Saturday & Sunday - Puppy … get up when we want, sleep when we want,
play when we wantplay all the time
“What do you do first thing in the morning?”
“Hit snooze”
I hit that button at the same speed as I hit snooze, AKA lightning speed. ![]()
I’m the type of person that sometimes is awake to see the sun rise.
A sure sign that it’s time to go to bed. ![]()
Yup! And something about if it’s ever hard to wake up? Answer I hit so quick was “I’m literally always tired, ya jerk!” ![]()
Sea Turtle here.
Someday, when I’m 150, I’ll get to have more of the relaxed aspects of their day.
Until then, the day is spent as a juvenile. Paddling like hell from one project to the next. Taking a breath now and then, occasionally getting a bask in the sun before returning to the depths of the office, snacking often, and mostly trying not to get eaten by work.
I’m responding to this post after midnight. I took the quiz and it said Wolf, oh duh, although I’m not 100% that, either.
The quiz claims I’m a wolf, but I’m really more of a dolphin who has to be at work in the morning, so my “bedtime” answer probably skewed that.
Thankfully my job is… understanding… of my inability to human early.
When you’re good at getting it done, they never care where or when!
My level of motivation is far more important to me than any chronotype, and always has been.
If I want to do something, time is irrelevant. Ditto, if I do not want to do it.
For years I worked 80 hours a week in my own businesses. That was after years of working in the corporate world where I arrived late, most of the time, and worked late. And that as after my college years where there were weeks that I went with out sleep, often with pharmacological assistance.
Apparently, I’m a lion – but I’m more of a cowardly lion than the regular sort. ![]()
“Wolves are natural night owls.” Bingo! I’ve been a night owl as long as I can remember. It was always difficult for me to get up and get to school or work on time. I need to move slowly in the morning. It got easier after I retired because then I could set my own time schedule.
Lately, I’ve had to get up earlier than I would like. I’m having some work done on my house and the contractors arrive around the time that I’m normally still in bed.
Hopefully it will only last a couple more weeks.
I am a definite Dolphin often dressed in Wolf’s clothing.
Ugh, that throws everything off. Being able to set your own schedule is a luxury but also honestly necessary for those whose rhythms don’t conform naturally to the industrial manufacturing workday, a relatively new concept (from the 1800s), evolutionarily speaking.
And then there’s the whole bi-phasic sleep tradition prior to electricity, and Churchill’s “two days in one” nap schedule, etc.
We wolves and dolphins stand with history, dammit! ![]()
I wouldn’t know; it’s my afternoon nap time. #lion #lyin’down ![]()
