Refund of Regulatory Advertising Fees for ads served in Canada

Did you guys see this mess (received email):

We are writing to inform you about a refund to your Amazon Ads account.

What’s happening:

As Canada’s Digital Services Tax Act has been officially repealed, beginning April 15th, 2026, Amazon Ads will start refunding Regulatory Advertising Fees previously collected for ads served in Canada between August 15th, 2024 and July 31st, 2025. No action is required — refunds will be applied automatically to your account. Most refunds should be issued by April 30th, 2026.

How the refund works:

** We will issue your refund to your original payment method (Seller Balance / Vendor Balance / Credit Card).*
** If you used Pay By Invoice, we will issue a credit memo. You can apply it to your next payment by mentioning it in the remittance details section of your wire transfer.*
** If your invoice with a Canada Regulatory Advertising Fee is still unpaid, we will credit and re-bill the invoice without the fees.*
** If your refund is less than 1 USD, we will issue a click credit to your account which will automatically apply towards your next invoice*

What you need to do:

No action is required. Refunds will be processed automatically starting April 15th, 2026. Details will reflect in your Billing > Documents page once refunds are completed. Most refunds should be issued by April 30th, 2026.

Regulatory Advertising Fees for other countries (France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria, and Turkey) remain unchanged.

For years they had sworn that that could happen… more reasons to hate Amazon (in this love-hate relationship we all have)

Yup. Got it…

Since Amazon sent it to us but we have never ran ads in Canada, does this mean we will get a refund?

Asking for a newbie on NSFE …

We got it also … Amazon must have sent it out to everyone who does ads whether or not they ran ads in Canada.

This is exactly my frustration

I have never sold in Canada through Amazon, and the marketplace has been in vacation mode for years, yet I know that my ads were shown in Canada

In any case, Amazon is judge, jury and executioner regarding amazon ads, afaik there’s no way to audit the clicks, views or charges, let alone, refunds for things that “never happened”
