ETA: Gave it a go. Interesting title format with dashes and parenthesis, very short, didn’t use all of the info I’d put in, and put something first that I didn’t expect.
Also: Pops you to a different screen to do the AI stuff, then it closes and I have no idea where the listing is. So that’s great.
Just what we need, a bunch of trashy new AI generated listings for generic white label products.
No thanks.
I’ll continue to come up with my own HIBS rather than the AIBS.
I’m sensing a big uptick in IP violations and prohibited claims.
There have been complaints on Ebay about Ebay displaying AI generated item descriptions in place of the seller written descriptions on some browsers and platforms for certain categories.
Have not seen any myself.
So Amazon is not going it alone.
Isn’t it nuts that Amazon’s AI will create all of this for the sellers and put them in harms way for listing and IP violations all at the same time? Pretty sick if you ask me but what else is new.
I’ve heard this also but also have not seen it, and that makes me wonder if it is a browser plugin, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why someone would need an AI plugin
Kinda makes sense, get a bunch of naive sellers to easily create listings and send inventory and sell it, then hit em w/ a violation and seize their funds.
I can see Amazon in a few years have a A.I.Content Bot to re-write all kinds of titles & bullet points for everyone.
Reminds me of when they rolled out “refurbishment” for FBA and hit people with used sold as new.
Yeah, one thing many sellers have asked for is to have an FBA option to never have returns go back into fulfillable but instead they just double down on having a new method to keep returns fulfillable. One semi-positive thing they did was make any consumable items non-returnable, but the way it’s done leads to a bunch of customer complaints since there’s no hassle free return anymore. The number of customer complaints (expired, inauthentic) for consumable items we sell have skyrocketed since the change in that policy. If you eliminate hassle free returns and make people give a “valid” reason for a refund, then they’ll come up with a “valid” reason.
It may only be occurring in certain categories and it is worrisome because as of Oct 1 the condition description field will be gone, replaced by a choice between 3rd party graded and a drop down selection of a condition on ungraded items. Different categories have different meanings of condition. Sellers are back to putting condition details in the item description.
I suspect this AI description is occurring in some versions of the Ebay app, but that is a guess.
Here is a thread from the Ebay forums for the AI listing generator in the Ebay Apps
I tried it and it is interesting. My titles were full of repeated words and punctuation. It did give me some ideas of things to use as additional keywords so I suppose that was helpful.
The description and bullet points were interesting too. I wouldn’t leave it up to the system to do this for me, but it has given me a lot of food for thought in maybe rewriting some of my stuff.
Will have to mess with it a lot later. I think it’s helpful but I would have loved to see it as a “stand alone” tool, not something that has pre propagated the listing tool….also a bit hesitant to know where all it propagates info to. I only clicked it on the title to see what it would do and it also did bullet points and a description.
Interesting…
They have been sending warnings to Amazon Vine members (Customer Facing Side) to NOT use AI and be sure the review is in “your own voice.”
This seems like a good place to drop this. Watch all the way to the end: Elle Cordova on Instagram: "Virtual assistants in the server break room #chatgpt #ai #artificialintelligence #virtualassistant #bixby #alexa #siri #cortana #googleassistant #generativeart"
