I sell collectible coins/stamps…and a few books on them hobbies.

Any of those coins, stamps or books refer to plants or seeds? Or have images of them?

We have been shut down due to a “picture of a mask” not allowed to sell PP devices. A “Flesh Color Marker” not allowed to sell human body parts. A hand drawn picture of a tiger, not allowed to sell endangered species on Amazon. A hand drawn illustration of a “Safari Type Vehicle” considered a Jeep, thus not allowed. Holographic labels, (just rainbow shiny vinyl we print on) slashed since it is drug paraphernalia. We are in the middle of needing a CPC for hundreds of Home and Kitchen items that are at a minimum 12x16 magnets. While I have a solution, these are not items a child would have access to.

Yet browse the catalog for Asian Basin Sellers, free to list anything, a_n_y_thing.

Thanks for the reminder Amazon.

You MIGHT find this post amusing. It seems that the BOTS don’t understand where TN is located.

Actually it is for a MISSOURI STATEHOOD #1426 8c Stamp which has nothing to do with stamps/seeds. I get a lot that are forbidden for whatever stoopid reason they can think up.

“Amazon manglement”, I like it!

A hand drawn picture of a tiger, not allowed to sell endangered species on Amazon.

Stuff like this makes you wonder if someone, somewhere has tried to sell an actual tiger on Amazon at some point. It would probably be hard to ship. And not a great fit for FBA, although I would like to see the warehouse video of that.

Cut down on the claims of “my dog destroyed the package”.

Are we to understand that Amazon sends out a notice that seeds must be produced in the United States, and the notice is in both English and Chinese?

Yes. that IS the case, and often has been ever since the Fedz first cracked down on the Imported Seeds ‘Snafu’ some years back.

To be fair, this is hardly the first time that Amazon has sent this particular broadside, and failed to specifically target the Language Of Preference set for this or that SoA or Vendor Account.

Laziness, thy name be Amazon…

The interesting thing about their notice is that in both @1Goodbye’s case, and the seller’s post that @dwat0870 linked, the issue is identified as

Your listing has been identified as a violation of Amazon’s policy regarding US residency

So it seems less about the seeds themselves, and more about the seller’s physical location. @1Goodbye, do you live in the US?

In the NSFE post, the language isn’t exactly clear. They say -

Everything is grown, sold and shipped from Tennesee USA, attached our nursery license and hope that’s the end of this nutty BS.

But they don’t say sold and shipped from Tennessee by us, so it isn’t 100% clear if they actually reside in Tennessee. The reference to their nursery license makes me think yes, but you never know.

@1Goodbye, do you live in the US?..no I live in Georgia on a private lake surrounded by tall pines and swamp…Yes I live in the USA. I was born and bred in the USA…

no I live in Georgia on a private lake surrounded by tall pines and swamp…Yes I live in the USA.

 OK, just checking… so it seems that Amazon can’t tell the difference between the US, and ??? :woman_facepalming:

The country (Georgia) covers an area of 69,700 square kilometres (26,900 sq mi), and has a population of 3.7 million people.

georgia

Clearly, the great state of Georgia has been identified by Amazon as a foreign land.

Why am I not surprised.

They changed our “Corporate Name” to “NH” in the ID sweep in June, and thanked me for filling in all the forms promptly.

This issue of geography has been an ongoing Amazon topic of frustration. Recall back a few years ago when we were shocked to discover that Brazil was now in North America? Or more recently, when we woke up to discover the US had ceased to exist?

During one of the earliest rounds of Seller Identity Verification some years back, there were several posts made by Georgia (Peach State)-based 3P Sellers that seemingly could best be explained by a poorly-parameterized Amabot making exactly that mistake.

I recall mentioning that possibility to @ least one of those folks at the time, but IIRC we never heard back in the ASF whether or not that was indeed the case for them.

Amazon would have much more accurate location info if they used zip codes. I assumed they thought I lived in the country of Georgia but if they checked my zip code they would realize it is the state. My appeal to them closing this listing…

ASIN B00A6HXXXX Is not a plant or seed, it is a collectible stamp. MISSOURI STATEHOOD #1426 Block of 4 x 8¢ US Postage Stamps and has nothing to do with plants or seeds. Please see listing to verify. Bruce

Even if they do close it, it is not a loss. This is a common USA stamp and there are sellers willing to sell it for practically next to nothing. I don’t waste my time on under $5 on a sale so mostly I sell very obscure foreign stamps.

Even an application of Bacon’s Law (re: the “Six Degrees of Separation” premise of the modern parlor game, not the Virginia House of Burgesses’ late-17th Century measure) would be hard-pressed to make a connection between the paintings of Thomas Hart Benton & President Truman’s birthday to illegally-imported seeds.

Sadly, that won’t stop the poorly-targeted Amabots from trying…

I suspect this is to remind Sellers who prefer to read in Chinese than US English, of the aforementioned policy.

The reminder seems targeted. :eyes:
