Resell button on ebay

So I purchased something on ebay, older retail item, used, power supply, and I was in my “purchase history” page to leave feedback cause the seller was lightning fast with shipping, and what the:

RESELL? I literally got the item a day ago!

I noted it the first time with an order I placed this week.

The effort would have been better spent on fixing a dangerous Ebay bug which affected my order.

The postman who picked up the order mistakenly scanned the label as delivered, and then noting his error and scanned as picked up. Once an order is scanned as delivered, Ebay does not update tracking.

That isn’t just an ebay error. Amazon does that too

What I’m seeing is just as bad.
On my home screen, I have a block for “Ready to Resell” with several items that have been purchased with the account.
Oddly, I don’t think that used eBay branded shipping supplies would do very well…

There are some sellers selling reduced quantities of Ebay shipping supplies. Still new, but things like 25 of an item Ebay sells as a box of 100.

On the whole eBay is far more accurate with tracking information. The information they display to buyer is based on seller input (tracking available), or an carrier data.

What Amazon displays to buyer is based partly on seller input, sometimes on carrier data, but mostly on what the great All-Knowing, All-Powerful, Always Right, AMAZON invents.

They have never wanted buyers to know their tracking, but aren’t stupid enough to actually withhold the tracking – just make it hard to find. At one point the only way to find the tracking was to find some very small print, so light gray as to be unnoticeable, and follow that link.

I buy enough on both sites to have a lot of buyer side experience.

Amazon will pass on as actual fact tracking information that is pure fantasy. This for items they are shipping themselves. Had they looked at the carrier data for the tracking they would realize they never bothered to hand that package to the carrier. That particular non-delivery took so long that my tracking “facts” were changed several times (not on the carrier site, that always just said they were waiting to receive the package). Finally after several scheduled delivery days were used up and replaced with fresh ones, the order was then canceled on the day is was for sure going to be delivered.

That was not an isolated incident.

I’ll counter this one. Ebay seems to take the ETA when shipped and stick to it.
Example on a shipment I have right now:
Ebay:Arrives Fri, Dec 26, Shipping company: Monday12/22/25 by end of day
Amazon does tend to update ETA’s when they get shorter. Longer they ignore.

Once USPS scans a parcel, the USPS site will not record any more scans. The scans can only be seen by USPS emplyees.

Not true. A recent order to me was scanned delivered, and immediately scanned picked up. It got a full complements of scans enroute to me and was scanned delivered again when it reached me.

USPS also records scans after a delivery scan if the item is refused and returned to sender.

Ebay misses everything after the first delivery scan.

Today Ebay is presenting estimated delivery dates which are 3 business days before what the USPS site is displaying.

Agreed. I’ve often seen multiple tracking scans when I’ve checked an order (something I generally do only when there is a problem!). Sometimes a dozen or more. Even 3-4 scans when going to the dropshipper/forwarder that has a PO box at the PO where my carrier empties his truck.
