Is there a way to change the address? The reason I rushed is that I was told that amazon would deactivate accounts that missed the deadline which isn’t the case.
By having it sent to using my friend’s name usps will accept it and place it in the po box for me. If it gave me an option to put the business name, I would. I am attaching a photo showing that that isn’t an option.
Because that is not how identity is being verified. The code along with photo ID and other requested docs are the way the identity is being verified. The concern is that Amazon is nebulous when it comes to a lot of their SOPs and small errors lend to large peoblems. Just wanted to make that distinction- I agree with your overall point. We’ve all been through so much trauma when it comes to amazon.
I am new to Amazon (ebay seller for over 10 years). How would I verify my identity as an llc? There is no photo ID. I apologize if I sound like a complete novice. Amazon help hasn’t been helpful at all leaving me to surf social media groups to find the answers.
You have multiple steps on the verification process:
Business Address
Identity
Bank Information
etc
There are 5 categories and some of them get verified automatically and some don’t depending on what information amazon can verify with the information it already has.
For me the only thing I had to verify was my identity and my bank - the rest was automatically verified. For most people here, they had to go through the postcard verification process to verify business address.
Each category has its own verification process: So for the Business address, they will most likely send a postcard along with a code - which is why they’re asking for recipient information to make sure the correct addressee is reached - but the recipient information in itself is not a verification of anything - the code is. The issue you may face is that the recipient name gets connected to your account or as others have mentioned usps sends the postcard to sender which will cause problems on your amazon account (assuming that you didn’t use your friend’s name)
You may notice that amazon processes tend to be far more complicated than ebay.
I’m not understanding the confusion. When you set up your account, you told them you were an LLC. Right now, Amazon told you they want to verify you by sending you a postcard. If they ask for your name, put in your name; it is associated with your account, after all. Your friend’s name isn’t. They didn’t ask for your friend’s name.
Read other responses on the particularities of USPS and having a po box - he’s trying to reconcile two different platforms/systems and that may lend itself to a problem
I’m not understanding why he 1) can’t get his own PO Box or 2) can’t add his name to his friend’s PO Box. I guess his friend could say no, but he hasn’t told us that yet. Plus, he is acting confused about what Amazon needs. Amazon is being pretty clear right now, methinks. I’m not understand that confusion.
There is more to this story, and unfortunately without the entire picture it is very hard to direct you @Resaleretail . What address are your bank statements and ID showing? How about your credit card address? And if you change your address you will need a utility bill at that address.
Using your friends po box may have permanently harmed your account, or it may not have. Right now if you put your friends name in the field amazon is asking you for it may suspend your account as we have no idea if your friend also operates amazon accounts or has ever been suspended.
You rushed into things, now before you make them worse, stop, and do things right. The address verification is a legal requirement of the US govt and trying to trick it into passing you will not turn out well, account suspension and possible forfeiture of funds.
They made the addresses public in (@Dogtamer or @SawleMill help me out!) 2021-ish, maybe? So I’m confused about how new you are and why you are still using your friend’s USPS PO box.
However, I will say that I use a UPS box for my business and was able to verify through postcard with that. They are easy to set up in your own name, and you can pay annually.
Many members of our Seller Community will likely recall the clamor @ that time caused by that shift in policy - which, to be fair, was driven by Federal Government requirements, as are those rooted in their latest reiteration with the US INFORM Consumers Act - and the dire predictions of disastrous consequences to be expected; I’ll not deny that I’m somewhat surprised that there seems to be little or no evidence of worst-case scenarios coming to pass, but I am grateful that such is so.
It will probably also be recalled that said policy change was a great impetus behind 3P Sellers securing P.O. Box addresses soley in order to shield their personal identity and/or property - and that in the ensuing years, further Amazon policy shifts have been deployed that are largely attributable to attempting to peel back such onion’s outer layers…
The first column called Fee Group is the group your local post office would be assigned. Our post office is Fee Group 2 so the prices of our various size boxes are in that line. So a small regular size PO Box at our post office runs $60 per six months or $120 per year.
Post offices in cities where there is a high demand for PO Boxes will be placed in Fee Groups that charge higher prices as seen in Fee Groups C30 through C44. In those post offices, there may be a waiting line and qualifications to get a PO Box.
Everyone has been nice at this point. MAYBE too nice.
I spent a number of years in the Compliance Department at one of the largest insurance companies in the country.
The ONLY times that I encountered agents that were SO DETERMINED to not take the easiest solution out there – get your own PO Box – was when they were crooked as HE## and hiding something.
So, at this point, I’m going with Pepper_Thine_Angus and have to figure there is a LOT more to this fable.
What exactly are you NOT telling us? And, since I haven’t called my daughter to check, I wonder if playing silly games with the INFORM verification system like this might actually cross the lines into a Federal crime. I hope you look good in stripes.
