Amazon is absolutely on a campaign to cut down on how much they have to pay out in SAFE-T claims. Cutting down on buyer abuse is hard, so they are trying to see how much they can limit sellers’ ability to file them before things blow up.
Yes, this has been our recent experience. Safe-T claims are being automatically rejected literally within seconds. It’s happened with every one we have filed recently, including one just yesterday. You are now forced to appeal in order to have any chance. We do usually win on appeal, however, for stupid returns. I would caution to pick your battles, in other words just make sure you have a legitimate claim and a strong case with plenty of evidence, and know the policies accurately.
Excuse me for not understanding, but how are you able to deduct anything if it’s RFS. Again, sorry if that’s a dumb question. Does it have to do with the type of merchandise you’re selling? I am a media seller and have no way of keeping any amount with an RFS return.
I don’t sell media so I am unfamiliar with that return process.
For standard returns you can select to deduct a restocking fee. For up to 19% there is no justification or photos needed. Beyond 19% they require photos and reasoning.
It’s been years though since I had a non RFS return
well now there is a complete and total inconsistency in claims
2 claims same item both return reasons “incorrect website description” both BS
1 claim granted
1 denied, because the item is a free refund item because it fits into apparel (it’s a holster)
Honestly it’s like they go out of their way to deny claims
It’s been this way for awhile. They automatically deny all claims initially within seconds if the return was opened for a seller faulted reason.
I don’t even write anything anymore in the message box on the initial filing because I know it will be auto denied. I save my statement for replying after the denial.
We also get the free returns trash excuse, too, even though they are mostly auto parts. Sometimes I am able to get them to approve the return shipping after I actually show them screenshots of the product page from an actual free returns item and then a screenshot of our product page clearly showing it’s not a free returns item. Even this only works occasionally….which in itself is insane.
Yep, we have one at a week right now……doesn’t happen often but sometimes it seems some fall through the cracks and they sit for a few days. They will get to it.
