I have a question in regards to BSR, parents and variations. I don’t really have a strong opinion on this, so maybe I can get some insights from you.
Situation:
30 variations parent is always on top3 on BSR
vs
3 different parents of 10 variations each, all of them in top10 of BSR
From my side what I see is:
· 30 variations parent get customers “lost” on it. So many options, hard to choose… but more reviews and higher BSR.
· 10 variations parents are easier for customers I think, is like you are really choosing what you want and don’t get distracted. But BSR is lower and each parent has lower reviews if they are separated, of course.
What I personally find as a Buyer, using desktop and mobile browsers (not the Amazon app), is that the more variations, the longer the load/render time for the PDP and to browse amongst the options.
And since I have little patience and usually other similar ASINs to choose from, I abandon the too-many variations PDPs, pdq.
I start to see the sluggishness after 10 variations, and so now I exit those for a different product pretty much immediately. And if the search results shows 4 or 5 options and says “+5” or more, I don’t even click.
So…I don’t know how the Big Parents are really getting views and conversions, unless they load/render more efficiently via app than browser. Or most Buyers are more patient or tolerant than I am.
