Seller-fulfilled returns to require prepaid labels as of Dec 18

FFS…

Normally, If a customer asks for a return label, I just attach it to the message when I reply.

Sounds like I need to make them do a return request. Wait till it’s done, find it & then upload a label?

Note: Labels shared through Buyer Seller Messaging or other channels outside the Manage Returns workflow don’t meet the requirements listed on Upload a prepaid return label.

I guess all you really need is the “Pending Label” link to check once a day?

So what exactly does this mean?

Amazon is no longer going to provide prepaid return labels?

They speak of “Address-Only” labels.

So I think they are saying it’s never going to be a customer faulted return where they pay.

Like, “Better Price Available”, “No Longer Needed”, “Ordered By Mistake”, etc.

Or “see link” : Amazon Sign-In

If this still holds true, I guess you can deduct the price of the label from the return.

Sometimes the price of the label eats up the whole refund, leading to negative feedbacks, So I’m not sure what’s changing. Not much I think.

They want you to deduct it from the return, like they do

But US sellers are already opted into prepaid returns unless it’s a bulk or heavy item.

I guess I’m confused at what they are saying….which is normal after an Amazon announcement since they are never clear.

This is already policy
Then again amazon has proven time and time again they don’t know their own policies

I think what’s new is having to provide a pre-paid label no matter the reason for return.

I’m hopeful that for Buyer-faulted returns, Sellers can still deduct at least the return label from the refund.

I’m ticked that this goes into effect December 18–just in time for all the extended holiday returns. :woman_facepalming:

This benefits Amazon, not Sellers “with US and international returns”.

Yeah, I mean….this is already the policy. Prepaid labels are still prepaid even on buyer faulted returns.

We very rarely will get a return where it’s an address label only….this might happen 2-3 times a year out of thousands of returns. I assume that’s because the buyer has been booted from the RFS program.

Wrong. Buyer-faulted returns still get charged return shipping.

This policy ends that.

This has saved me a few refunds, when dealing with buyers “new to scamming..” They have heard all you have to do is demand a return. When I explain they will have to pay to ship it back, it rarely happens.

That’s not clear from this email. In the same way that Amazon issued prepaid return labels can still be deducted from a return for Buyer faulted returns, I see no indication that the same isn’t true here. Of course, Amazon doesn’t clearly state that it is, either, so as with all things Amazon, only seeing what they actually do will inform us on the truth of the policy.

Agreed. The announcement doesn’t make this clear and we are all just guessing.

They aren’t charged. They get it deducted from their refund but they aren’t charged up front for it.

Or you cannot read?

You are contradicting yourself.

I think @Jenga244 means the buyers aren’t charged up front for the return, but still pay for it by having the label deducted from their total refund. This is what happens with Amazon issued return labels. I don’t think they are saying that sellers aren’t charged.

I know what he means. Customers are “charged” still.

No prepaid labels are currently supplied by Amazon in the “Handmade” category. I always do provide one, but deduct the cost from the refund on buyer faulted returns.

Where do you purchase the label from and how do you attach it to Amazon return process?

I never supplied a paid label for a FBM return before, not quite sure how to accomplish what Amazon require us to do now.
