Shipstation new montly fee

Dear Valued ShipStation Merchant,

By default, ShipStation offers discounted rates for USPS, UPS, GlobalPost, and DHL Express without any carrier setup required. Customers that take advantage of the ShipStation rates avoid any additional fees.

You’re welcome to continue to access your carrier accounts that we support, but beginning in thirty days, you will be charged a monthly service fee of $5.00 to do so.

To review your subscription and carrier settings, you may log into your account and view your current selection in the Settings tab at any time.

If you need any technical or account support, please visit our help center to contact ShipStation Support.

If I understand this correctly, using Shipstation’s rates instead of my own carrier integrations will cost me $5/month.

Seems to read the other way - if you use your own, you have to pay $5/month.

Using Shipstation rates will “avoid any additional fees”.

Using your carrier accounts (with your set carrier rates) that Shipstation supports will cost you $5.00 a month to access your carrier account pricing.

That’s why I posted this, I wasn’t sure I was parsing it correctly.

How about this? Talk about CONFUSION?

$5 in the email (?) above, but $30 for me?

Why oh why am I so “special”?

The answer per a chat.

Starter + $5.00
Bronze + $20
Silver + $30
Gold + $40
Platinum +$60

Wonder if it would be due to volume or the amount of services you use via their platform (or maybe a certain service warrants a higher amount)?

Fee structure might eat up any savings gained by using your own account prices.

We left Pitney Bowes years ago because of the monthly fee structure. The cost verses the label savings wasn’t worth the cost.
