So this is lovely...

Review says ‘No Product’ - Well, it’s because USPS was AWFUL this season. She has no received them, but it seems I can’t message her at all to ask her to change it?

I wrote to Makerplace to ask them to either remove it or contact her to remove it.

Please keep us updated!

It might be worth suggesting to MP that they not publish star ratings until there are 3-5, or at least two ratings that agree.

And if you can’t message Buyers, then what the heck “customer service” are they actually rating Sellers on?

The problem was the customer couldn’t contact me, I couldn’t contact her (and still can’t), so now I have this. It will kill my shop, so unless they fix it I’ll have to close. It’s huge on my store homepage.

Oh my gosh, because of the temporary message disabling :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming:

@Dave any recommendations for Sellers in this situation? Will they be able to remove public ratings/reviews that were the result of message disabling?

:angry:I hope that they use common sense on this. Even Amazon removes feedback involving shipping problems.

I mentioned in my email to them that everyone was aware of USPS’s difficulties. That the order was on 12/2 and I shipped it on 12/3 (and linked the tracking). And that it was delivered - tracking shows “handed to an individual.”

If they don’t remove it I’ll have to close, which is unfortunate. I really hope they remove it.

Michaels won’t change it - even though it is due to shipping and they can SEE it was delivered. They gave me the customer’s email address, and it’a a Yahoo address which means it’s probably a throwaway for orders and spam and she’ll never see it. I did send a groveling email, but not holding out much hope.

Michaels was pretty good to me last year…guess that’s over. Just another nail in the dung heap that was 2024 for me.

Here’s another scenario I messaged them about.

"I would like to point out the unfairness of the review system where a buyer leaves a review not related to the product. Specifically the performance of carriers. The example I attached is a buyer who claimed to not have received their order. Tracking showed the package was delivered and I provided a full refund to the buyer but they still left a one star review which greatly reduces the overall average which is in the forefront to prospective buyers. The review was solely about shipping and had nothing to do with the product or my customer service. Even Amazon removes buyer feedback in this scenario. This would be akin to the buyer leaving a review about the performance of the website (for example the lack of a message system). Please explore a remedy for this scenario as I know it has affected many sellers. Another good example would be slow performance of all carriers during the holiday season.
Thank you for your consideration."

Yup, this is exactly that. Nothing about the product. I reported the review to give that a try.

This is my only review, so it pretty much ruins me.

So sorry to hear about this. I looked up your store on MP to see what it looks like, and found under the Review:

What is the “incentive” mean? MP paid her for this review?

I think it was connected to a Michael’s sponsored sale discount but not entirely sure :man_shrugging: Mine show that too when there was a sale.

This was Michael’s reply to me.

Hi Wade,

Thank you for contacting us! I understand that you wanted to have the review towards shipping process be separated with your store review since it has nothing to do with your store, or your customer service. I’ve passed on the enhancement request to our support team. We are still adding improvements and are confident that feedback like yours will make us that much better!

I am soooo sorry you are dealing with this! This is absurd, and anyone who reads the review will see it that way. Please don’t shut down though. This may have a surprise effect, as in people wondering why the bad review and click on your item to read it. I have certainly done that in the past as I was shopping.

Right? Makes me think they bugged the customer(s) to leave reviews - like Etsy does.

and why they won’t remove it.

Ugh. I hope they will remove it.

I posted in the sellers group too. The customer has her product and the review has nothing to do with the product. This is just awful. I did well there last year so was motivated to add more this year - but I won’t if they don’t remove it, there’s no point.

@Dave

I wish MakerPlace would post some review guidelines in the review submission process such as

Please limit reviews to the product and the customer service of your MakerPlace Maker. Work with your Maker to resolve any issues with loss, damage, or carrier delay of your order. Your review provides valuable information for buyers and sellers alike to make a better MakerPlace community.

In their current posted guidelines it says it will NOT post reviews about “Shipping and Customer Service”. In my opinion the current guidelines need to be totally revised. I personally think that since they do not have a separate “Feedback” section for the seller, leaving a customer service comment in the review would be acceptable but external events outside of the seller control is wrong and MakerPlace should do what they can to filter them.

Okay, so this should be enough to get them to remove it!
