Someone ordered a large book set from me and then returned all different books.

Seller support told me that amazon will automatically refund after 48 hours and then I can file a safe t claim. But they havent issued a refund yet. I also tried looking at the guidelines of how much restocking fee I can charge in this situation and I dont see an answer for this specific situation. But for a similar situation it said I can charge 50%.

Thats crazy you have had this happen to you so many times..

If your order was not already auto-refunded, it probably won’t be.

Additionally, waiting for Amazon to refund then filing a SAFE-T claim will make the buyer happy because they get their money back (which they shouldn’t), but then you will have to fight Amazon to get your money back. Odds are you will get some back but not all of it through SAFE-T claims.

Also, the longer you wait, the more likely the buyer will open an AtoZ claim and you will lose everything.

I still suggest you refund with a 100% restocking fee.

If the buyer has done this before her account will reflect that.
Do you have photos of that shipment? If you do, email the buyer with the photo - “this is what was shipped by me, this is what you returned”.
then…

do this.

As an only partially relevant response.

I am uneasy with any post about a large book set.

If it is an encyclopedia which was original sold as a set, the comments on this thread are clearly relevant.

If this is a so-called set, like 30 hardcover novels which were never sold by the publisher as a set, we have a fraud perpetuated upon an Amazon seller who sold an item which violated Amazon listing rules.

Like shared negligence in a tort case, the result is not clear or predictable. It will often be affected by the eloquence of a plea and the hearing venue.

I am not trying to accuse the OP of anything other than, perhaps, confusing Amazon with some other venue.

I have learned to live in a world where there is little that is black or white, but much which is grey.

I assume the OP meant “published as a set” books, like encyclopedias. Not “lots” which are seller-generated.

I do not know what ASIN the OP was selling on, but there are a lot of non-encyclopedia 30-book sets–boxed/cased, and not–sold new by publishers/authors in children’s books, which I know from current Santa shopping. Think Junie B, Boxcar Children, Geronimo Stilton, etc.

But again, I can only speak to children’s books.

Like @UserID said, I would expect (perhaps foolishly?) that a group of unrelated used or new books would be described as a “lot” rather than as “set”.

:crossed_fingers: Hopefully any booksellers listing “lots” on Amazon would both identify the specific titles included–because Amazon (unlike eBay) prohibits “grab bag” and “mystery box” types of listings–and photograph each specific shipment before sending.

Unfortunately, there are thousands of non-set sets offered on Amazon.

Bundles and lots are not permitted in media categories but that does not deter some sellers.

Needless to say, these listings subvert the goals of the Amazon catalog. But so do all of the private label Chinese commodities.

So how did this dispute end?

I won the safe t claim this morning. When it first happened and I had contacted the customer immediately. Once I received her response, where she claimed that she knows it wasnt the correct items, i reported her to Amazon. I also contacted seller support. I submitted all of these things to my safe t claim. This is the first time I have had to file a safe t claim and I won it. I am certainly happy about that but I am still annoyed that this lady got the product’s and her money back and someone other than her is taking the hit for it.

That is good to hear.

Now, can you spread this information to other booksellers? Please post her name/address here or to badbuyerlist, or both.

We don’t allow that here on SellersAskSellers. @Ssiddiqi21. But if you do choose to post to https://badbuyerlist.org/, please see @rms tips for doing so safely at https://test.sellersasksellers.com/t/getting-blunt-with-scumbag-scammers/5146/23?u=papy.

Yes, I know im not allowed to give out customers information.. i will check out how to do it safely on badbuyer. Thank you.
