SSA Using Carrier not Assigned to Template

Has anyone seen more cases where SSA is using carriers * not * on their SSA-enabled templates?

We keep having Buy Shipping suggest FedEx, when none of the FedEx options are checked off on our SSA template.

Oddly, in some cases it appears to be a glitch that is then solved by changing the weight in Buy Shipping and then changing it back - and then the FedEx selections are gone.

But this morning we have a couple of orders where this toggle process does not make FedEx go away. Our standard carriers (UPS, USPS) are also listed for these orders, so we can choose them - but odd that FedEx keeps showing up.

The orders are all standard shipping.

We didn’t see this morning; however, we only use USPS GA (less than 1lb) with Standard Shipping only (economy, expedited, 2 day, 1 day and same day all turned off).

We know there has been a long term problem with FedEx shipping as noted here on SAS and referenced to NSFE.

Maybe @Old-Timer can provide you with more info.

Is Amazon suggesting FedEx in the “Shipping Service used to calculate Delivery Promise” and under “Carrier:” it shows FedEx?

My example here shows Carrier: USPS
Shipping Service used to calculate Delivery Promise

Or, is Amazon Buy Shipping offering FedEx as an option to choose when you click on the yellow Buy Shipping button for the order? (not in bulk)

My above image shows USPS as the carrier used to calculate the delivery promise.

My below image shows all the available carriers including USPS, FedEx, UPS, and Amazon Shipping. None of our templates include Amazon Shipping as an option but it always appears as a choice.

I am not sure if your issue is Amazon using FedEx to determine the delivery promise or making FedEx an available shipping option in Buy Shipping.

Side Note: I am not sure if unchecking the Terms and Conditions for FedEx under the Buy Shipping Terms and Conditions [link] will remove FedEx from the Buy Shipping selections. This may block your account from seeing FedEx options.

No … it won’t exclude it. We do not use API and all of the boxes on that page for us are unchecked. We also have USPS, UPS and FedEx boxes on the top of the available shipping options that your image shows above (only Amazon Shipping is missing from ours). The Shipping Services available on this Shipping Option page are there because all of those Shipping Services will meet the ontime delivery estimate for the order. By unchecking the boxes which are not needed only filters out those that you deselect to refine your selection to your needs.

This being a glitch is most probable as others have reported issues with FedEx on NSFE.

@Old-Timer can you provide the NSFE link that you referred to in the above quote of your post?

That makes sense. I was not sure. That link is to settings for API and not necessarily Buy Shipping but it was a thought.

Thank as always to you both for the information.

It wasn’t clear in one of the instances whether or not AZ was using FedEx for the calculation (is there a way to go back and check?), but in the cases where we could toggle the weight to get Fed Ex to go away as an option it had been the only carrier listed.

Last two days have not seen a recurrence on our end, but will report back if we find anything else.

Every order we have using SSA … under the “Order Summary” widget on the order detail page, we always see the “Shipping Service used to calculate Delivery Promise” widget which tells us what was used to calculate estimate delivery time …
Shipping Service used to calculate Delivery Promise

It is there even after the order has been shipped and delivered.

Mostly.

Thank you!
It’s odd, (per wadeorcas) looking at orders that were shipped via SSA template and using Standard shipping, some show the “Shipping Service Used to Calculate Delivery” box, but there are few that do not.

One of the orders where we had the FedEx issue does not have that box despite being an SSA ship template using Standard shipping, so that might have something to do with it. Possibly a temporary back-end mismatch on the AZ side?

It was our first full week using SSA, so it might just be things shaking out and getting fully synched across their databases. Or just gremlins. If we see more I’ve asked the team to take screen shots that we can share.

If you have more than one template set up, we would check the item to make sure it is set to the SSA template.

If you run more than one SSA template, review each template set up.

If you have shipping templates that are not being used, you might consider deleting them.

Just some random thoughts …

What’s frustrating is I have 1/2 doz templates I stopped using a long time ago and have gone thru each and every listing (including the few FBA listings I still have) to ensure all are on my only SSA template. When I try to delete those old templates it says I cannot because it is in use but no Active OR inactive listings are using them so don’t know why I cannot delete them. :man_shrugging:

I’ve definitely experienced the weight change solution you mention. Top three shipping options on an order were all FedEx - who almost never fails…to let me down. I changed the weight by a pound and UPS options appeared, then changed it back and the UPS options remained. Crazy.
