Reminder of the tight line we are trying to walk here
Sorry, my comment belonged in the weather thread. Lol
Well there is always the Straight of America where you can watch oil tankers sit in their anchorage.

Hard to do when everything that’s happening is because of p*****cs.
I saw a Canadian press conference where it was stated that Canada will match the US Tariffs dollar-for-dollar. Assuming the US tariffs go into effect September 8, and Canada follows suit immediately, I’m looking at an additional 50% tariff on 2 of my 3 HS codes that I sell on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca that ship to Canada.
Since I must include DDP on all Canadian-delivered orders, I have to massively adjust my Amazon.com shipping templates for Canada to include this. Or, I just delete Canada from the Amazon.com templates.
For my Amazon.CA listings, I can just increase all my prices 50% higher to accommodate the increased tariff expense that is seller-burdened.
Is there a more elegant way to handle the expected 50% tariff increases for product shipping to Canada from the US?
The silver lining here is that I have some Canadian hijackers that are on some of my Amazon.CA listings. Once I increase my prices, I will lose even more of my brand’s Buy Boxes to these hijackers. When the order lands in their freight-forwarding warehouses in the US, the tariffs become the responsibility of the hijacker. That will be a nice surprise for them. I hope they aren’t aware of this wrinkle and get caught in the middle.
Just remember that some number of your listings will get high-price-bot’d.
Unfortunately it appears we have gone off topic and driven into an ACME brand tunnel. Closing for now might re-open after a cleanup
Hi all, I have tidied up a bit, and we are reopening this topic with caution.
You are 100% right, @Amazon_Seller, and it does make for a very thin line for any of us to balance on.
But for the sake of @Setalpz and many other Sellers with the same concerns, let’s keep this topic focused on untangling the current tariff effects on retail and ecommerce in Canada and the US, including
- supply chain issues,
- order delivery,
- finding the best options for cross-border customers,
- finding new customers or products,
- protecting our businesses,
- compliance, and
- TBD.
Thank you all so much for continuing to engage in our community during an incredibly frustrating time to, well, exist at all, but especially to run an online retail business.
And to bring us up to speed…
Maybe it’s time for Amazon to add tariff templates.
Some good news, I just discovered I was incorrect on 2 of my 3 products’ country of origin - both were going to be subject to the 50% retaliatory tariff. My 3rd product will remain US origin but the HS code isn’t subject to the massive tariff increase.
So the good news is my DHL orders to Canada will cost me less. Since I no longer have to re-price all my Amazon.CA listings to include the new tariff, I just lost a silver-lining against my .CA hijackers. But I’m sure they don’t correctly report the country of origin when drop-shipping from their NY warehouse into Canada.
Product bans now
And good points, from https://www.sanjuandailystar.com/post/canada-imposes-new-tariffs-on-us-goods-as-trade-war-intensifies.
