I purchased some clearence games at Walmart for resale on Amazon. When trying to get ungated, states that I have to enter the Transparency codes for the items I bought (5 of the same item). So i used the Transparency app and snapped the QR code. The app provides a 28 digit code (ie: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx), but the code doesn’t start or end with AZ or ZA. Can anyone provide a little guidance on how I can resolve this issue so I can post these for sale on AMZ?
Post them for sale elsewhere. You do not have proper documentation to provide to Amazon (if and when asked). Purchasing items from big box stores will not provide you invoices, only receipts and RA or OA is no longer an acceptable business plan on Amazon.
@Tvoi is correct. I would normally respond this way on the New NOT Improved Forum but here you go –
Seller U NOW
Vacation mode NOW
You are about one step away from a suspension.
I would post my normal template about the new, improved Amazon selling rules but it’s a long piece and can easily be found on the dozens of forum posts that I have done there.
Hi @dbbentley and welcome to SAS! I moved your post into its own topic for visibility. EDIT: And then I found your new topic and merged the two. Sorry for any confusion!
Personally, I’m not familiar with how the Transparency program works for resellers. Is the app that had the QR code an Amazon app?
As far as offering these for sale on Amazon as “new”–while, yes, I completely understand that you bought these not-previously-owned by a consumer at Walmart–I’m not sure that you will be allowed to do this, with the Brand protections already mentioned.
In the long ago past–in the beginning of Amazon’s still-ongoing crackdown on RA (retail arbitrage, which is what this is) and because I feared for the safety of my Amazon account that was mainly for my own brand’s products–I personally pivoted to offering Target-exclusive RA items (that had sold for me very well on Amazon) as “NIP” (new in package) on eBay (where they also sold very well).
The issue for Sellers is that Amazon has no nuance when it comes to item condition: items are “new” only if they come directly from the brand/authorized supplier/authorized distributor. Everything else is “used”.
Other sales channels like eBay or Facebook Marketplace or Etsy allow for better clarity in the lifespan and chain of custody of an item.
Wow, thanks for the reply. This “Sell on Amazon” thing isn’t nearly as simple as some influencers on Insta would lead you to believe. Glad I didn’t buy any of their “training”.
I downloaded the Transparency app from the app store and, after reviewing just now, it is an Amazon Mobile LLC app.
I used to be enrolled in Amazon’s Transparency program.
What is really is can be described MORE like a SERIAL number that I assign to each individual product I sell. So I have say 12 table runners for sale in the same pattern. IF that ASIN is enrolled in the transparency program through Amazon, I have to enter a unique number and sticker to the product. That number is UNIQUE to that specific item. SO…it fundamentally prevents any one else from jumping on my listing because they don’t have a code.
You can remove your offers, delete the listings. Go on vacation, if you signed up for a pro account and don’t expect to be selling for awhile you might want to downgrade to an individual account to avoid the $40 monthly fee.
Do not close the account if you ever want to sell on Amazon in the future when you find suitable items to sell.
Hmm, I don’t know if you have to do that for already listed items, unless you’re concerned about getting authenticity or condition complaints from Buyers on all of your items (not just these games).
Instead, you might consider changing condition to “like new” or “used”. It’s no guarantee that you’ll avoid problems, but it might allow you to get these sold as you reconfigure how you source going forward.
The others are being very nice due to the transparency code issue while the real issue is that you seem to be very new to selling on Amazon and apparently have not spent a lot of time on Seller U and reading ANY of the Forums (including the New NOT Improved Version).
Right now your lack of knowledge and lack of experience represents a ‘clear and present danger’ to your selling account.
“all products need to come via wholesale or distributer?”
Let’s go with AUTHORIZED distributor and only AFTER getting an LOA from the brand that specifically allows you to sell on Amazon.
There are certainly exceptions yet with brands that are not currently protecting themselves or just don’t care and want sales but those are decreasing daily/monthly.
I think with all the changes almost everything will end up gated on Amazon and all serious sellers will be much better off as a result.
I’ll save you the trouble of digging for it. I have a contingent of ‘fans’ that disagree with parts (perhaps all) of this so do with it what you will. Template response for Amazon follows —
Since you appear to be brand new, I will expand and give you my freshman, Amazon Rookie lecture. Please read it.
You are confusing AMAZON allowing you to list (or at least “ungate”) an item or category and actually being APPROVED to sell a product. AMAZON is only interested in FEES. They will allow a chimpanzee to list if it means they collect $$$$$.
You really need to go study Seller U instead of TikTok and YouTube before your account gets kicked to the curb permanently.
Since you don’t appear to have done that PLEASE pay attention to the following:
Here are the NEW rules for selling on the ‘new and improved’ Amazon. Only you can tell us if you meet the requirements. If they are rejecting your “invoices” my guess is that you do not.
The first question is – Are you authorized IN WRITING by the BRAND to sell their items on Amazon? That means from the BRAND, not some random wholesale source that can NOT authorize anything – they only SELL.
More and more brands have provided a “whitelist” of their approved sellers and if YOU are NOT on the list you will be stopped in your tracks and probably hit with an IP violation.
The second (and probably more important) question is – Where are you sourcing your products? Are you buying direct from the brand or through an AUTHORIZED wholesale source?
Have you verified with the BRAND that your distributor IS an authorized wholesale distributor for ALL of their products. Some wholesalers are only allowed to distribute portions of a product line.
NOTE – FOR ‘GATED’ CATEGORIES’ DOING RA IS NOT PERMITTED ON AMAZON. PERIOD. If you have to ‘apply to sell’ you WILL need an INVOICE from an AUTHORIZED distributor and not a receipt.
Thanks so much for passing on your wisdom, which I’m sure you got (at least to some degree) from others when you started out. Way to pay it forward. Hopefully I’ll be able to do the same one day.
You don’t know what you don’t know. But as you’ve so rightly divined, yes, I am a new seller (I said as much), have never watched a TikTok (but did say I had watched Insta) and no, clearly I haven’t watched much of the Seller Central Videos.
Per your advice, stores set to inactive (vaca) and started from the top on the videos.
Thanks again for your wisdom and experience on this free forum. It’s nice to be nice and you sure were with your advice.
