Tucker always has this look on his face that reminds me of a dog not yet old enough to comprehend object permanence who has just been shown a magic trick.
So now he tells some basic truths about Amazon, and shills for an online forum that allows the sale of cheap Chinese knock-offs of MagPul crap to add on to one’s AR or AK, and other “Mall Ninja” accessories.
For those who only dimly recall Tucker, he was on Crossfire on CNN, which got cancelled after John Stewart came on the show and excoriated them for making everything worse. He then got fired from MSNBC for misconduct, and after a few years on Fox News, he got fired from there, too. So now he does videos on Twitter, and may be so desperate to also have an Onlyfans page, I dunno.
This might be a little off topic, but I recently re-watched and excellent four-part docuseries on Max called “The Lady and the Dale.” It’s about a trans woman who tried in 1970s Los Angeles to build and market a three-wheeled car. It’s a helluva story – and sorry for the spoiler – but one of the reveals at the end is that the rabid-dog-like L.A. television news reporter who broke the story was none other than Tucker’s father, ■■■■ Carlson. As a former journalist myself, I had respect for the dad through most of the series, until he showed himself to be a zealous homophobe whose biases were on full display in his reporting.
Anyway, if you get a chance to watch “Lady and the Dale,” it is absolutely fascinating. The Duplass brothers are among the exec producers.
Ha, ha! This software would not allow me to write the nickname for Richard, even as part of a proper name. Hilarious! (Maybe it’s because it’s in a paragraph that also has the word “trans”?)
There are many ways around the Discourse Platform’s built-in filters which will typically work to convey exactly what one is trying to write, such as these for that particular filter:
Q.) What is the most commonly-used nickname for “Richard” in the English-speaking world?
A.) D¡ck (or Dìck, or Díck, or Dïck, or Dîck, etc.)
I think it was Salerno’s book Sham: How the Self-Help Movement Made America Helpless that details how cultists double down on their beliefs when provided evidence to the contrary.
In a day of bots and trolls (as a tool and SAAS) - this is every more true. In reference to his own Defense against libel (McDougal) - his defense from his Employment News defense team - that he was employing his First Amendment-protected hyperbole and that a reasonable viewer would have, in fact clearly understood Tucker’s rhetorical device. They, very visibly get away with this is very clearly intentional. In other words, Tucker is fully cognizant of what he does and he continues to do so.
I think it makes matters worse when there are calls to censor him or ban him when he goes and does a podcast with a head of state of we are indirectly at war with.
I don’t think there is a resolution here besides making him a martyr professionally and him repeatedly falling on a prop sword as a matter of Free Speech.
The most controversial youtubers do the same thing under the guise of entertainment.
