Two Step Verification

For a few days now, I’ve noticed Amazon is requiring a two step verification every single time I log in to Seller Central.

I’ve tried turning it off, making sure the “remember me” box is checked on my browser (Chrome). and nothing seems to be working.

Getting a bit annoying…

Suggestions?

Yea, that was happening to me too on both of my Amazon accounts and it was annoying. Also a Chrome user. This is what I did, which worked for both:

Step 1 - sign in with the 2-Step.
Step 2 - log off of the account.
Step 3 - When signing in again, check that box again (Keep me signed in).

You won’t be required to 2-Step again for about 5 days, and the account will never log off in that time unless you force it to.

There should be a box on the 2FA page that says

“don’t require 2FA on this device”

check it and as long as you don’t delete your cookies you should not need it

I tried this and it does not work. The system is set up to call our cellphone, which is out of commission right now.

There is an option for a re-send, giving other numbers, so I specify the landline and receive an automated call from Ronel Fernandez 206 - 577-1304 per the caller ID.

Why does Amazon NOT identify themselves properly? The first few times “Ronel” called me, I did not pick up the phone because I knew no one with such a name.

Why doesn’t Amazon do anything properly?

In case you missed this NEWS item (more info in March News):

"March 13, 2024

Two-factor authentication will be required for Seller Central sign in

Starting as early as March 28, 2024, you’ll be required to verify your identity using a mobile number or authenticator app when you sign in to Seller Central. This keeps your account safe from fraudulent access attempts."

So far, not everybody have been required to do that yet, but it does look like Amazon is rolling that out in batches, and pretty soon we’ll all have to do the 2-step verification very time we sign-in to SC.

I’m using Chrome and both of my accounts have already been assimilated into 2-Step every time. That went on for weeks. Then I got annoyed (happens easily sadly) and tried the steps in post #2 above.

Now I get prompted for 2-Step every 5 days. SC literally never shuts down on me, even if I shut my laptop off which used to happen every 3 hours prior to the new 2-Step requirement.

I doubt I’m the only one that can do this. Unsure if it can be done on other browsers.

We can verify that it can be done on Firefox also.

We sign in with 2 factor after a restart and click that “Keep me signed in” box.
Then 5 or 6 hours later, Amazon forces us to resign in but it is only the password and we click the “Keep me signed in” again.
From that point on, we are able to stay logged in for days (usually until we do browser and windows updates at which time we will preform a restart).

Brave browser here, no issues, I never log off and have not had to redo 2FA.

If ya gotta go with an open-source browser as a first choice - @ least, from a non-Enterprise Domain-joined workstation, although there exist workarounds for those which are - the Brave Browser is hard to beat.

Put that in your pipe, Mozilla, and smoke it `til ya choke.

Tried some of the suggestions and I still find it annoying. Nothing has worked for me. Oh well.

This morning I thought “What if I lose my phone?” – then what? Both of the choices that pop up are connected to my cell. Either Text me or Call Me at the same number.

Thought…I now have Mom’s cell. Keeping it and converting it for my new business. I never carry it around, it simply sits at the house “like a land line” but it’s a cell. So I’m thinking to put that phone number in as my back up somewhere. Have to click through and see if that’s possible. Seems like it should be. So both phone lines should be an expense to the IRS – although those rules seem to indicate only one phone line for an expense is allowed for a home based business. (But we have husband’s line for that if audited and that will be my logic.)

Probably only set up for web browsers.

I guarantee you many sellers log into public terminals and keep themselves logged in.

Would be interesting if Amazon would create a windows app.
