Here is the new Coupon fees, starting June 2 (highlights by me):
Upfront fee: $5 flat fee per Coupon created, plus
Variable fee: 2.5% of sales on redeemed Coupons (that is, Coupon sales)
Couple questions:
Does $5 flat fee per coupon means we can set up one coupon that including many items and the upfront cost is $5 for the whole thing? So a coupon with 10 items listed in it will cost $5, not $50.
Does “Coupon sale” means the amount of sale after the coupon discount? So an $25 item with a 10% off coupon will have a “coupon sale” of $22.50, and the variable fee will be $22.50 x 2.5% = $0.56.
Did I understand the new fee correctly? Please correct me if I’m wrong. Any insights are appreciated.
This is the way we understand it to work on the 2.5% fee per sale.
When you create a coupon, that is just one coupon. The coupon can cover more than one ASIN as you have to attach the ASINs you want to that coupon for the coupon to work. Since you created only one coupon, the fee to set up a coupon with 10 ASINs attached would be $5.00.
What we would question is … if you set up a coupon and need to add another ASIN later, will that then create an additional $5.00 charge since the parameters of the first coupon have changed by the addition of the new ASIN?
That’s a good question. I didn’t even realize we can add ASIN to an existing running coupon.
One more question:
If I set up a coupon today (before June 2), there shouldn’t be the $5 upfront fee, right?
But that coupon will last for the 30 days time limit, so if there is any coupon sales, some of them will happen after June 2, the question is will the 2.5% fee apply to the coupon that was set up before June 2, but the sale was after June 2?
Either way there is going to be a fee per sale. If your sale price is under $30, it should be a decrease if it becomes 2.5%. If your sale price is over $30, then you will see an increase if it becomes 2.5%.
